LAMPSHADE DESIGN
concept - Biomimicry, green design
intension - incorporation of natural shade i.e. “tree” structure in a lampshade
- incorporation of twists and turns for light effects.
references
featuring -central light passing through leaf veins as tree branches. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
The Wings sculptures Gardens by the Bay
As I started the journey of architecture formally, I had a blurred vision of a green, well developed Nepal engolfed with all sorts of sustainable and ergonomic design solutions. Surfing through the internet, my aspiration was to integrate principles of biomimicry into architectural design, inspired by the harmony found in the natural ecosystem. Lampshade deisgn was one of my first assignments as a design student and shows my early exploration on architectural design process.
RESIDENCE DESIGN
concept
representation
-biomimicry with principles of Ar. Frank O. Gehry
-blood circulation pathway from body to heart and vice versa incorporated in circulation from site to building and vice versa.
- zoning with reference to Gehry’s existing building
feeding the interior with natural light using skylights to reduce energy consumption interior spaces
PRIMARY SCHOOL DESIGN
school as a microcity
Path: -circulation as engaging activity
Edges: -dividing two phases
Diistrict:
Landmarks
Nodes:
city features in design;
asymmetrical grid for circulation
1. entrance
2. circulation
3. reception
4. principal’s office
5. staff room
6. toilet
7. canteen

COMMERCIAL COMPLEX DESIGN
conceptual form -a fluid structure unique to its neighborhood providing a certain contrast and hierarchy while connecting to the fluidity of the river near the site.
massing
basic shape twisted along with site orientation for maximum exposure
pinched the opposite corners with rounded edges to create contrast from the surrounding rectangular buildigs
subtracted the central portion to provide a central atrium.
exterior treatment:
colours -metallic colours, black borders and white. materials: -Glass, metal, shera board, concrete, brick.
lighting:
Porch: -ceiling lights
Facade: -lattice glass illuminating lights. -Street lights with solar panels.
vertical shading adding to aesthetics on the west
stepped down for green roof oppurtunities
polycarbonate panelled dome roof over bookshop cafe area
triangular lattice window with pv cells and perforated shading devices
FACTORY DESIGN concept
the main concept behind the design lies in the principle of “form follows function.” functions encompasses:
1. provision of lighting and airiness through natural methods
2. general operating mechanism of the factory.
3. ease in coordination between spaces
DESIGN COMPETITION
majheri: a space that connects concept majheri; a space within; a corridor elements -incorporation of a walkthrough and a central cozy space, -a newari style pavilion and lighting considering local context, -elevated green spaces
interactive areas playground, benches, board games zone, fireplace for winter.
majheri presents a walkway which acts as a view port for various activities a public space has to provide leading to a cozy pavillion at the heart of the site.
MASTER PLAN
MISCELLANEOUS WORKS
PERCEPTION OF LOVE
-as vast and mysterious as an ocean
-also as a ship that sails and crosses it.
-as freeing and peace - giving as doves flying
-like a dance where the leader willingly becomes a follower when necessary.
-of so many meanings like colours of different wavelengths.
“a bridge i see, a bridge i cross, the bridge that connects, a bridge that’s not.”
