The perfection of a geometric pattern, the meeting of the pink plaster wall, the blue sky and the greenery of a banana leaf in one point, “the conflict” of the blood-red rose, the yellow of saffron and the ultramarine of a glazed tile – those are the things that inspire and challenge the most experienced, skilful and fearless fashion designers. Half a century ago it was Yves Saint Laurent, today – Juozas Statkevičius, however any parallels or comparisons are pointless in this case: Morocco as the inspiration is a river you cannot step twice into in the same way. However, it is still the river of the fashion inspiration with a long tradition in European fashion and thus it is very symbolic that the jewelry of Juozas Statkevičius collection is created by the famous Parisian David Dain, who used to collaborate with the late Yves Saint Laurent himself (and not his later successors) for his eponymous couture collections. We bet that for David Daim it was intriguing to work for the vision of Juozas Statkevičius: it was not nostalgia for Moroccan collections of Yves Saint Laurent, but a challenge of another vision of fashion and Morocco.
