This recital is presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the San Marcos High School Music Program Senior Recital

Mehar has played the trombone for over 6 years, and played the baritone for over 3 years.

He is a proud member of the San Marcos band program, having been in the top ensemble, Wind Symphony, for 2 years and having been a member and leader in the Knight Regiment Marching Band; this year, Mehar was involved in co-creating and designing a marching show titled “Masters of the Sea.” Mehar also stole these backgrounds from the internet. Looks nice, right?

And finally, thank you to everyone that has inspired me and pushed me to be the person I am today. :) (There’s a lot of people to thank, but if you’re reading this, just assume you are one of them. Or maybe you just happened to find this pamphlet and I have no idea who you are… even still, thank you random human for supporting me. I couldn’t have done it without you. <3 )

PROGRAM NOTES Down in the River to Pray……………………….....Unknown Down in the River to Pray is a traditional American folk song however the exact origin of the melody and lyrics are unknown. The oldest publication of this melody with a different title and lyrics date back to 1867. The song was popularized in the 2000 movie “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and 2016, the University of Texas’ Tuba and Euphonium Studio arranged this piece for a 12 member low brass ensemble for 6 tubas and 6 euphoniums. Tonight this piece will be performed as a low brass quartet, rearranged by yours truly.

- Video Game Symphony No. 4……………Christopher Bill Put together 4 years ago, this piece is an arrangement of themes from 18 different video games! The video games featured include Super Mario Sunshine, Mortal Kombat, Team Fortress 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, Minecraft, Undertale, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and so much more!

When it came to deciding what would come to be in my senior recital, I knew this piece had to be in it, because it was a piece I’ve known about and loved since freshman year, as that was when Bryce first showed it to me, and asked me to play it with him for his senior recital. And that’s why I’m performing it today: for Bryce.
