My name is Saman Mukkaram. I am a second year student at the Univeristy of Waterloo School of Architecture. I am looking for a four month co-op placement that will help my creative ideas to flourish, push me beyond my comfort zone and give me a window into the different departments of the architecure industry. I am excited to explore different aspects of architecture.
I am truly inspired by Persian Architecture, as I moved around the Middle-East and India growing up;Therefore I want to create this dialouge between the past and the present, enabling my designs to bridge cultural divide and transcend geographical boundries.
My design strives to evoke a sense of tranquility and wonder, with a deep connection to ones surrounding. I believe that every space we design should envoke feeling, tell stories and resonate with human spirit.

I am writing to recommend Saman, whom I enjoyed supervising during her four months at AAA Architects Inc. She made a remarkable impact and demonstrated exceptional abilities that would be invaluable to any team.
Saman worked extensively on a request for proposal (RFP) project, where her contributions were nothing short of amazing. For instance, she took the initiative by calling up consultants to get them on board, a task that required strong communication and negotiation skills. She meticulously read the proposal documents, made comprehensive notes, and even proposed a schematic design for a library, showcasing her creativity and attention to detail. Her thoroughness was evident in her work, as she identified and rectified potential issues in the proposal, ensuring its high quality
One of Saman's greatest strengths is her exceptional ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with her coworkers. Her friendly and approachable nature fostered a positive work environment, and her seamless teamwork significantly contributed to the success of our projects. Her innovative ideas for rendering drawings and enhancing the outlook of our company's website not only improved our visual representation but also attracted more clients, demonstrating her ability to make a tangible impact.
Saman's key asset lies in her teamwork and creativity. She constantly brought new and fresh ideas to the table, always asking insightful questions to clear any doubts. Her inquisitive nature and quick learning ability were awe-inspiring. For instance, she independently learned Revit and AutoCAD when I assigned her a project requiring these skills. Additionally, she was tasked with understanding the zoning bylaws of different areas to identify potential plots of land for building, which she accomplished swiftly and accurately.
Moreover, Saman quickly became familiar with it after I assigned her to read through the Ontario Building Code (OBC) thoroughly. She grasped the complex regulations and applied this knowledge successfully in her projects, showcasing her remarkable adaptability and ability to excel in new and challenging environments.
Saman is a truly dedicated individual, consistently going above and beyond in her work. Her unwavering dedication, coupled with her innovative ideas and strong work ethic, makes her an outstanding candidate. I have no doubt that she will continue to excel and make significant contributions wherever she goes.

The House of Noor project model was my first project during my first year. I used basswood and foam core to create this model, meticulously laser-cutting each individual piece of the arches. These pieces were then carefully glued together in rows and columns. This project not only honed my technical skills but also deepened my appreciation for precise craftsmanship and attention to detail..
I created a 3D model of the World Arab Institute as part of a case study. Using basswood and laser cutting, the model was designed to showcase the different facades and highlight the importance of how they frame the views both outside and inside the building. This project emphasized the architectural significance of visual perspectives and spatial interactions.
In my artwork, I strive to encapsulate the essence of empowerment and resilience embodied by Muslim women, transcending socital stereotypes and prejudices. Each stroke of Arabic calligraphy intertwines with the vibrant hues of strength, as these women boldly embrace their cultural heritage and assert their place in society. Through intricate brushwork and vivid imagery, I depict a narrative of liberation and defiance, where the veil becomes a symbol of empowerment rather than suppression.
