both joined NID in the year 2008 as students under the Graduate Diploma Programme in Design. Our specialization is in the field of Textile Design at NID. KOSA TRADITIONS – Kosa sari weaving of Champa and Chandrapur

whose meaning has evolved over centuries (beginning from the 15th century). As a noun it is defined as ‘an activity involving a special skill at making things with your hands.’ For our craft documentation we decided to study the traditions of Kosa weaving from the State of Chhattisgarh, India. Through our craft documentation we have tried to cover all the aspects of Kosa rearing and weaving in the region. For this purpose we choose to visit Champa and Chandrapur. We have tried to put in all the relevant and interesting information along with our analysis of the craft tradition. We hope that this document helps the readers to built up an understanding of this craft practice.
