airlines Turkish Airlines orders more Airbus aircrafts Turkish Airlines and Airbus signed a MoU to acquire 20+5 optional A350-900 aircraft. The agreement was signed at the Élysée Palace, Paris, during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to France with French President Emmanuel Macron. “With Turkish Airlines serving more destinations than any other airline around the world, we will be delighted to rely on our new A350 XWB to further develop our major international routes from Turkey.” said M. İlker Aycı, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Turkish Airlines. Aycı went on to say; “With this agreement today, we have signed our good will to carry on and finalize the acquisition with Airbus. Our agreement is a significant step forward in enhancing our passengers’ flight experience. This order is set to play a key role in our growing business in the years to come. As we will be strictly evaluating during the talks to finalize the order, furthermore the increased business volume for the local Turkish supplier industry by Airbus will be a great gain for the sector." Pegasus Airlines airplane skidded off the runway, hangs down off a cliff A Pegasus Airlines airplane skidded off the runway of Trabzon Airport in Turkey, and ended up halfway down the cliff and with its nose staring down at the Black Sea. Pegasus Airlines said in a statement, “We’re sorry to report that the Boeing 737-800 type TC-CPF registered aircraft of Pegasus Airlines Flight Number PC 8622 Ankara-Trabzon flight scheduled at 18:25 UTC tonight, had a Runway Excursion Incident during landing at Trabzon Airport (13 January 2018), Some 162 passengers, two pilots and four members of the cabin crew on board were evacuated. There are no casualties or injuries”. The cause of the accident is still unknown. Officials have said the cause can be revealed after technical inspections are completed. One of the passengers aboard during the accident, Fatma Gördü, said the incident occurred after the plane landed. “We landed on the track and then taxied a little on the runway. But then there was a huge noise, we started shaking. We got pushed to the side; the plane’s nose was facing down, and the back was facing up. The passengers panicked a lot,” she said.
