9th GRADE
Newly admitted eighth grade students and their families begin their academic journey with meeting one-on-one with counselors before high school starts. The goal is to create an individualized academic schedule and begin the discussion of how counselors can support their high school journey. Counselors support students in building their self-awareness, self-efficacy and self-advocacy skills in small groups.
10th GRADE
As sophomores explore their passions and challenge themselves academically, counselors work to encourage students to take on leadership roles in both the Mariner community and the greater community as a whole. Guiding students to become leaders, innovators and stewards of our community is a goal that the counselors continue to nurture throughout their time at SMPREP.
11th GRADE
Counselors work with our junior students and families to explore course options and graduation requirements as they complete their upper level high school courses. In January, college counselors begin the College navigation process with our juniors -exploring and navigating classes, summer plans, internships, college essays and creating a mission statement.
12th GRADE
Saint Monica Preparatory offers an individualized student centered program guiding students to explore their passions and discover a university pathway that fits their individualized goals. Our Saint Monica prayer for each student is to listen to their inner compass and allow us counselors to support their unique goals, educational ambitions and dreams while becoming global citizens to serve our world.
Advisory Program
A program designed to support social emotion learning and foster a sense of community.
Adolescents are making their way from late childhood into early adulthood. In every dimension of their humanness - socially, emotionally, physically, spiritually - they are drawn to offerings that challenge their minds and hearts; help make sense of relationship challenges and life’s stresses and align with their growing embrace of this new stage in their identity. Meaningful experiences provide deep opportunities for students to internalize and reflect on the various SEL competencies.
“They won’t pull you, but they will hold your hand.”

PIONEERING PROGRAMS
MORI
MORI students carry out multi-year, authentic research projects that are collaborative, presented to the scientific community. Typically, a student will begin research as an apprentice during their freshman or sophomore year and become a lead researcher for two to three years by time of their graduation.
The Coral Restoration Group addresses world-wide coral bleaching and loss of coral reef by experimenting with microfragmentation as well as designing 3D printed ceramic platforms on which to grow coral colonies.
ENGINEERING PATHWAY
Computer Science & Engineering
The SMPREP Computer Science & Engineering Pathway is a well-structured and comprehensive pathway for students interested in pursuing a career in computer science, engineering, or related fields. Coursework follows a logical progression, starting with basic programming skills in 9th grade and building up to more advanced topics in hardware, software, data science, and culminating in a capstone project. This allows students to develop their skills and knowledge incrementally.
