MAGGIE’S CENTER BORNEO-SPORENBURG, AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS A cancer support center in Amsterdam, this project explored curvilinear massing as the driving force behind concept development. The building was designed to be reminiscent of a wave, both to connect the project conceptually to the adjacent waterfront and to make the interior feel organic. The interior was designed to be as open as possible on the first floor, where public activities would be held; while the second floor was designed to be more secluded and private

GUTHRIE TOURISM CENTER

A new visitors center for Guthrie, Oklahoma, a decaying city in Central Oklahoma with an iconic downtown district with an equally iconic Victorian architectural style.

Inspired primarily by Robert Venturi and postmodern architecture, this project is focused on signage as an architectural feature, as a large sign is surmounted on the project.

The building’s facade design incorporated many individual architectural features from specific historical buildings in Guthrie to create a single form. Artificial lighting was used to highlight the origin of these features, with orange lighting highlighting older features and blue lighting highlighting the modern additions.

STILLWATER CHAPEL To achieve a conceptual division between the sacred and the profane, The programmatic spaces were divided into the two categories, profane and sacred. These programs were then allotted into the two primary volumes of the structure. In a plan view, this was created by taking a triangular shape and subtracting the central courtyard to form the triangular volume for the secular spaces and the trapezoidal volume for worship space and similar areas.

This divide is also seen in the height difference between the two volumes, as the sacred spaces are housed in a volume twice as tall as the secular one, giving it a priority and dominance.

The central courtyard forms a spiritual connection between the sacred and secular spaces and an aspen tree is placed in its center to act as unifying feature in a literal and a symbolic sense. CAPITAL BREWING COMPANY A multi-use building consisting of a microbrewery, a music retail space, and residential apartments. Additionally, a live-music gathering space is located across the street from the brewery. The project’s primary materiality is brick, the common material of Guthrie’s Historic

downtown district. This is contrasted with the lower level’s curtain wall system that encloses the brewery taproom and music retail space. An exterior beer garden was placed on the second floor, and this subtraction can be seen in the elevation below.

ABOUT ME I am an Architecture Student at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I was born and raised in Covington, Louisiana where I attended Saint Paul’s School for high school. After being selected as a National Merit Finalist, I decided to attend Oklahoma State University where I have been pursuing my Bachelor’s in Architecture degree since I first enrolled. I have always had a passion for design and model-making, over the summers in high school I used to build and restore furniture. I also enjoy cooking and making digital art on Photoshop.

Oklahoma State’s Architecture program places a heavy emphasis on software literacy, where we are encouraged to use line drawing and 3D modeling Software Rhinoceros and Adobe Photoshop. Additionally, we are taught how to use Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Enscape, and Revit.
