Jet crashes at SMO, all aboard feared dead BY DANIEL ARCHULETA Managing Editor
SMO A small, eight-seat twin-engine jet crashed after landing at Santa Monica Airport on Sunday evening, possibly killing all passengers aboard, according to media reports. The plane was on approach from Idaho when the Cessna Citation veered off the runway and crashed into a hangar. No information was made available about possible victims on the ground, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said. Smoke could be seen billowing above the airport with several Santa Monica Fire Department vehicles responding to the incident at presstime. daniela@smdp.com

The event drew upwards of 150,000 to the beach for the giant art show. (BELOW RIGHT) Janet Echelman's 'The Space Between Us' explored the tension between weight and lightness. Exhibitors pull out of town after closure of Civic Auditorium BY KEVIN HERRERA Editor-in-Chief
CIVIC CENTER For over a quarter of a century, an eclectic mix of skilled artisans from across the country have trucked their wares to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium for the Contemporary Crafts Market. Smooth glass vases the color of sunbursts, intricately carved stone necklaces featuring hand-painted cranes, lush leather handbags and stained wooden end tables filled the interior of architect Welton Beckett’s classic Streamline Moderne building and spilled out onto its lush lawns underneath white tents. Thousands of shoppers flocked for the weekend to tackle their Christmas lists or SEE CIVIC PAGE 10
