Strategic Direction 2025-2028

“Your own personal vocation does not only consist in the work you do, though that is an expression of it. Your vocation is something more: it is a path guiding your many efforts and actions towards service to others.”

POPE FRANCIS IN CHRISTUS VIVIT —

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Since 1852, under the direction of the Basilian Fathers, St. Michael’s College School has been educating young men in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge for lives of leadership and service and forming them in faith to present the face of Jesus Christ to a world that needs His grace and His peace. As the school begins a new strategic plan, how fortunate we are to be doing this in celebration of the Great Jubilee 2025.

As Pope Francis stated in his letter announcing the Jubilee 2025: “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”

Therefore, as we enter the Jubilee year as pilgrims of hope, let our students discover the courage and find the strength to embody the ideals of a St. Michael’s student: one who is free in mind, body, and soul to pursue truth, choose goodness, create beauty, and build a civilization of love and care in service to our community and the world.

Through our rich Liberal Arts and co-curricular programmes, our students unleash their passion for meaning and curiosity and develop a foundation that prepares them for life.

This document is a set of guidelines to help chart a direction to grow and improve upon the work of the school throughout the past 173 years. As our plans evolve, we are prepared and committed to growing together. I hope this strategic vision builds additional foundations to foster human formation of young men who will change the world.

Blessings,

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear St. Michael’s College School Community,

I am pleased to invite you to review our new strategic plan. Your perspective was important to us in the formulation of this plan, and we welcome any feedback you may have going forward. It represents a comprehensive vision that will guide us as we continue to provide an exceptional educational experience for young men.

This plan is the result of thoughtful collaboration from community stakeholders, reflection, and a deep commitment to ensuring that our school remains a place of excellence in boys’ education, faith, and character development.

Inspired by the Basilian Fathers and guided by our shared motto—Teach me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge— our plan is rooted in an emphasis on educating the whole student by developing mind, body, and soul. This integrated approach allows our students to grow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom, compassion, and a deep sense of moral responsibility.

Our Catholic Faith remains at the core of all we do and in the spirit of the Gospels, students are called to live their faith through prayer, reflection and action.

At the heart of our strategic plan are four pillars that define our focus:

• Building Strong Community by Fostering Well-being

• Pursuing Future Readiness Through Academic Excellence

• Developing Character & Leadership Through Athletics

• Nurturing Growth in Faith and Character Through Service

This strategic plan is not just a roadmap for the future—it reflects our enduring commitment to educating young men in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge for a life of leadership and service in faithfulness to Jesus Christ. Together, as a school community, we are working to build a future where our students are well-equipped to face the challenges of a rapidly changing world with hope, confidence, and a commitment to justice.

Sincerely,
