The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Psychology Department aims to enhance students’ understanding of behavior and mental processes and their connections to other disciplines.

Psychology students experience the breadth of the science while tailoring the program to match their personal interests and career goals. Incoming psychology students will explore five areas of study:

• Biological & Sensory Processes

• Culture & Community

• Development & Learning

• Health & Counseling

• Social & Cognitive Processes

All students have the opportunity to work with faculty on research projects, often becoming involved in on-going research during their sophomore or junior year. Our faculty have expertise in:

• Biological psychology/Behavioral neuroscience

• Clinical/Counseling psychology

• Cognitive psychology

• Developmental psychology

• Social psychology

GENEVIEVE DEBROOF ’16

Genevieve earned a MS/EdS in counseling with a concentration in school counseling at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2018. She is a high school counselor at Brent International School Manila in the Philippines.

Max earned an EdM in mental health counseling with a concentration in sport psychology from Boston University in 2022. He is a head mental health and performance counselor at Christchurch School in Virgina.

JESSICA KONECKE ’16

Jessica earned an MA in forensic psychology from George Washington University in 2018. She is a case manager at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

MEGAN FEILD ’17

Megan earned a PhD in counseling psychology from New Mexico State University in 2022 and works as a graduate psychologist for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

ANDREW KOCH ’13

Andrew earned a master’s degree in aeronautical science and a PhD in aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is an an engineering psychologist at NAVAIR.
