With a rich history that spans over six decades, SMCC Athletics has seen outstanding growth since its first teams hit the playing surface in the early 1960’s. Since then, SMCC has grown into a comprehensive educational institution offering over 45 academic and certificate programs, numerous short-term training opportunities, and hundreds of courses in eight pathways of interest. With over 6,000 students served yearly, SMCC supports and expands Maine workforce and beyond by providing experienced, educated, and highly-skilled workers.

SeaWolves student-athletes are resilient and competitive not just during their games, but also in the classroom. During the 2022 year, SMCC Athletics competed in seven regional postseason tournaments, with five teams competing in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). Also during this time, the SeaWolves brought home the title of men’s basketball national champions and the women’s soccer team earned national runner-up recognition.
SeaWolves student-athletes have excelled academically while bringing home 48 YSCC All-Academic Awards and naming 23 athletes as United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Academic All-Americans.

Annual
SMCC Athletics and Foundation Golf Tournament

Various sponsorship levels are available in support of this event. The SMCC Athletics and Foundation Golf Tournament is an annual event bringing approximately 150 participants to Purpoodock Golf Club. Proceeds from this event support the SeaWolves Athletic Club, which raises funds to make capital improvements to athletic facilities.
SMCC Athletics Hall of Fame

This annual event celebrates the successes of former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and special contributors to the athletics program. It includes a social hour, dinner, and an awards ceremony that is also streamed on the SeaWolves Athletics Channel.
Hagerman Alumni Night
$1,500
This annual event brings athletic alums together for a night of food and fun. Hosted at a local offsite restaurant/pub, the event includes a silent auction and corn hole tournament. Proceeds from the event support the Timothy D. Hagerman Scholarship, which is given annually to a student-athlete during the end-of-the-year awards ceremony. Timothy Hagerman was a student-athlete at the college and a member of the men’s basketball team who passed away at the age of 23 from cancer.
