This treatment has been available for over 25 years and independent tests by the University of Westminister revealed that the treatment consistently created inch loss for all those tested.
To find out what this treatment is really like we sent a member of our Social Media Team to experience it. "I’ll start this off by saying that this is not the most dignified treatment but it’s well worth it. This wrap is not a treatment for the faint hearted – it’s not painful but it takes a lot of guts to stand naked (except for a pair of paper undies) while a stranger measures your wobbly bits! Luckily my therapist Christina (in Sam McCauleys Redmond Square) was lovely – and best of all super quick!" Christina took measurements from 18 areas (marking each with a pen so she knew the exact spot to remeasure after the treatment). After measurements are taken the wrap begins, and other than the standing naked bit I found this quite nice. The bandages are warm and have been pre-soaked in a clay solution. You are wrapped quite tightly but I wouldn’t say too tight. The end result is you end up looking like a mummy. After this Christina helped me into a silver plastic suit – this helps to keep you warm and help the clays do their thing. Then comes the nice part – one hour of relaxing on the bed. Christina left me lots of magazines but the soothing music and peacefulness of the treatment room I took it as the perfect opportunity for a snooze, and was actually a bit disappointed when the hour was up.
Christina helped me off the bed and out of the silver suit and then started the unwrapping. With the bandages quickly gone Christina took measurements again. Again this was a bit mortifying but I was excited to hear what the results were. Aaannnnd the numbers speak for themselves: 7 and ⅛ inches overall! I have to say I definitely felt the difference in my upper arms, ribcage & stomach! It wasn’t dramatic but it was definitely noticeable to me. This treatment would be ideal for anyone who has a big event or holiday coming up and wants to lose a few inches to make a dress or bikini look better, and for me it was a huge motivator in kicking some bad habits. You’re encouraged to avoid caffeine, sugar and salt afterwards, and feeling the results encouraged me to swap my normal coffee for decaff and not have a sugary treat. The great thing about Universal Contour Wrap is that the inches don’t come back as soon as you drink water – in fact you’re encouraged to drink at least 2-3 litres per day to help flush out the impurities that have been broken down during the wrap process. My Verdict? This is a great treatment and well worth the few minutes of 'mortification'!

Being a new parent can be over-whelming. You’re trying to adjust to a new schedule, new demands and a new baby. Here are a few tips to help you make the transition to new parent with less stress.

Our staff and pharmacists will all be able to offer you advice on the best products for you and your baby’s needs. Many of our pharmacists and staff are new parents themselves, so they can relate to any problems you may be experiencing. In many of our stores we have medical grade baby weighing scales which can be used free of charge. These are located in our private consultation rooms and can allow you to accurately weigh your baby. If you’re unsure about the amount of milk you are giving your baby, particularly if you’re breast feeding, feel free to use our baby weighing scales before and after feeds. This allows you to calculate how much your baby has taken and can often put your mind at rest. Please ask in store for details, and pick up one of our free baby weight record cards to allow you to track your babies progress. When feeding your baby, not all babies are the same, and appetites vary from baby to baby, week to week and month to month. Let your baby be your guide as to how hungry they are and don’t make them finish feeds if they do not want them. They will let you know when they have had enough.
• Babies will feed when they want to and for as long as they want to, whether they are being breastfed or bottle-fed. • Feed your baby whenever they are hungry. Babies are very good at judging how much milk they need. • Your baby may demand frequent and irregular feeds (which is normal), day and night. Don’t worry about sticking to a rigid schedule, particularly in the early days. • In time you’ll learn to read your baby’s cries and to work out whether they’re hungry or just need attention. Our pharmacists and staff would be happy to advise you if your baby is suffering from Colic or Reflux, and can offer various options that may help to reduce the incidence of these common feeding problems. Babies often pick up coughs, colds, or have a temperature and again our staff can advise on the best way to treat these, or offer tips and tricks to help alleviate these common conditions.

I always cleanse twice – living in a city, I think it’s important, and it really only takes a minute. Then I follow it with a sensitive toner from La Roche Posay.

I don’t wear glasses or contacts, but I promise you, a couple of drops after the shower on a day you are exhausted and… well, you won’t feel any less tired, but your eyes may feel slightly further away from the back of your head then they were before.

When I can afford it, I splash out on L’Occitane Verbena Shower Gel (am currently using miniatures nicked from a hotel!). Honestly, it’s like happiness in a bottle, and has many a morning transformed me from the Walking Dead to Mary Poppins in one squeeze. (Sadly the Poppins-mood isn’t guaranteed to last all day).
I have always followed the 10-step Korean skincare routine religiously. Yes, it takes at least half an hour in the morning and the same again at night, but I haven’t let having a baby get in the way of it. Some things you just have to make time for…. And if you believe that, then you are either insane or have two more hours in your day than I do! Ask any busy woman with young children about her beauty routine, and the answer will usually involve a sigh as she tries to explain the things she doesn’t have time to do, rather than those she does. I used to have a meticulous skincare routine (admittedly not a 10-step one), but unfortunately these days I have been known to crawl into bed after dragging a (slightly used) baby wipe across my face. More unfortunately again, I had a baby at a time in my life when I needed to pay more attention to my beauty routine, not less. A hectic schedule compounded by sleep deprivation is not conducive to putting ourselves first, whether you have kids or not. But there are a few things I do try to make sure I at least have in the bathroom (whether or not I use them is dependent on many other factors!).

Whenever I feel a bit run down, I take Revive Active. It is expensive, but my justification is that not so long ago, I used to spend more than the price of a month’s supply on a night out. I find it amazing. I don’t care what anyone says about accepting yourself the way you are, I feel a hundred times better with a bit of make up on. I have perfected a 5-minute make up application that is fine for everyday, and stops my neighbour asking me if I’m ill. I am on an ongoing quest for the perfect mascara for my thin lashes, and have just discovered the Lancôme Hypnôse range. They are a wonder! Not so easy to remove though, so invest in a separate eye make up remover.

It’s the best thing to have in your back pocket on the days when you haven’t had time to wash your hair or apply any sort of make up, and have unidentifiable stains covering 75% of your clothes. It’s called “Perspective”, and it reminds you that even on those days, you’re doing just fine.
