KICKING OFF FOOTBALL SEASON WITH SMART CITY
Football season is back, and for Smart City Networks that means delivering the connectivity and infrastructure that keep game day running at some of the largest stadiums in the country. At NRG Stadium , home of the Houston Texans, and at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, Smart City teams work behind the scenes to power the technology that drives the fan experience, team operations, and venue services.
In Houston, Smart City supports Texans home games by providing telecommunications to broadcast trucks, sideline communications for coaches and officials, and a range of behind-the-scenes services that keep the game running smoothly on one of sports’ biggest stages.
In Indianapolis, the scale of services is immense. Nearly every part of a Colts game relies on Smart City’s network infrastructure. VoIP phones support coaches and staff. IPTV systems power more than 200 club TVs and concession stand menus. Networked registers process millions in sales. Security operations depend on Smart City systems for ticket scanning, access control, and Wi-Fi enabled NFL security checkpoints that regulate staff and media access. The Colts production team also relies on a dedicated network and high-throughput switching system to deliver video and audio to the big boards, ribbon displays, and cloud-based production tools. Specialized connections even extend to statistics crews, photographers, X-ray machines, and RFID gear tracking.
With more than 1,500 Wi-Fi access points deployed throughout Lucas Oil Stadium and petabytes of data processed during game day, the scale of connectivity is staggering.
These successes are a direct result of the dedication of the Smart City Houston and Indianapolis teams. Their expertise, preparation, and commitment to innovation keep every connection strong and every event running at the highest level. Together, they demonstrate how teamwork and technology combine to deliver football experiences that fans and venues can count on week after week.
