English from the Beginning Till läraren

Welcome to English from the Beginning English from the Beginning är ett nybörjarmaterial som vänder sig till äldre nybörjare, på högstadiet eller gymnasiet. Målgruppen är både de elever som av någon anledning inte studerat engelska tidigare och de elever som behöver repetera eller till och med börja om från början med engelska, trots att de läst ämnet under flera år. Texterna handlar om ungdomar i deras ålder. Stor vikt har lagts vid att göra texterna varierade och elevnära. English from the Beginning 1 och 2 följer Europeisk språkportfolios nivåer A1 och A2 (delar av nivå A1 tas upp först i häfte 2). Materialet har en tydlig struktur och en tydlig progression. De ord och fraser som tas upp i de tidigare kapitlen, dyker upp även i senare kapitel. I English from the Beginning ligger fokus på språkets funktion, att eleverna ska våga använda sitt språk i tal och skrift. Materialet innehåller texter med tillhörande övningar av olika slag. Eleverna får träna såväl sin läsning, som sin muntliga och skriftliga förmåga samt hörförståelse. Det finns hörövningar till varje kapitel. Målet är att fraser och ord ska repeteras många gånger och att kunskaperna därmed befästs. Successivt bygger eleverna upp sitt ordförråd och får en bra grund att stå på inför fortsatta studier. I varje kapitel finns grammatikövningar och i slutet av varje häfte en minigrammatik. I lärarhandledningen finns ytterligare grammatiska övningar. I övrigt innehåller lärarhandledningen fler övningar till varje kapitel, för att ytterligare hjälpa eleverna att befästa sina kunskaper. Korsord, spel och andra mer lättsamma övningar ger variation. Variation och repetition är grunden i English from the Beginning. Eleverna får en chans att verkligen lära sig engelska från grunden. De flesta instruktioner är på målspråket, förutom i de längre grammatiska förklaringarna, som är på svenska. Detta för att materialet även ska passa dem som har svenska som modersmål, men som ännu inte har så goda engelskkunskaper. Det är ofta inte någon nackdel för elever som ännu inte nått så goda kunskaper i svenska, men som har vissa grunder i engelska, att få stöd att befästa den grundläggande svenskan, samtidigt som de utvecklar sin engelska. Uppmana dock elever med annat modersmål än svenska eller engelska att använda sitt starkaste språk även under arbetet med engelskan. Det går utmärkt att göra egna gloslistor från modersmålet till engelska och tvärt om.

For this game you need a dice (tärning) and counters (spelpjäser). Cut the cards out and place them up-side-down next to the board game. Throw the dice, move your counter and pick a card.
