Text Levels The texts in this book are colour coded according to the level of difficulty. The levels are as follows:
Turquoise texts Level 1: Texts about familiar topics with basic everyday words and phrases.
Orange texts Level 2: Longer texts about familiar topics from everyday life with a little more challenging vocabulary and a little more advanced sentence structure.
Purple Texts Level 3: Texts about both familiar and abstract topics in life. There are more unfamiliar words and the sentence structure is more advanced and complex.

He is 7 years old. He loves to read. His favourite book is Harry Potter. His favourite colour is red. This is my grandmother. We call her Nana. She is 73 years old. She loves cars. She can fix any car. Her favourite colour is blue. This is my cat. Her name is Zoe. She is 3 years old. She loves to chase birds. Her favourite colour is grey because that is the colour of mice, her favourite snack.

The Sporty Week Billy decided to do more sports. In order to find out which sport would be the right one, Billy tried different sports for a whole week. Read his diary.
MONDAY Today I tried golf. I put the ball on the ground, I swung the club back and then brought it round. Crack! The golf club missed the ball. The golf club dug up a bit of mud. The mud flew in my eye. Now I have an eye infection. TUESDAY Today was tennis. I wore white shorts and a white T-shirt. I think I looked pretty good. I threw the ball in the air to serve. I looked up. The ball dropped and hit me in my other eye. Now I have a black eye. Tennis is not for me. WEDNESDAY I thought today I would try something safe. Frisbee. What could go wrong? Yeah, right! I threw the frisbee. It curved in the air and came back at me. It hit me hard in the head. Now I have a lump and a headache. Ouch!

THURSDAY My friend took me to play polo. I like riding horses. So, I thought this would be easy. I was wrong. The first time somebody hit the ball, it came straight at me and hit me in the stomach. Now my stomach hurts and I feel sick! FRIDAY Athletics today. The first thing I tried was shot put. And the last thing. I picked up the metal ball and then dropped it on my foot. Crack. I bruised my foot and now it hurts to walk. SATURDAY Today I just lay in bed with ice on my foot, frozen peas on my left eye, ice on my head and a hot water bottle on my stomach. Dad put drops in my right eye for the infection from the mud. Life sucks! SUNDAY And today I found the perfect sport. FIFA football on the Playstation. I can run, kick and score goals. And I am perfectly safe! Life doesn’t suck!
