Opening Prayer
Officiant Bless the Lord, all you his creatures. People Bless the Lord, in heaven and on earth.
O fficiant Let us pray.
O God, you have made us and these pets and all living things. You are e ven more wonderful than the things you have made. We thank you for g iving us these pets who give us joy. As you take care of us, so also do we ask that you help us to take care of our pets who trust us to take care of them. By doing this, we know that we share in your own love for all creation. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
Reader The Word of the Lord.
People Thanks be to God.
The Psalm Psalm104:1, 10-12, 14, 17-19, 21-22, 25
Chanted by the choir to a psalm setting by William Crotch
Bless the LORD, O my soul; *
O LORD my God, how excellent is your greatness! you are clothed with majesty and splendor.
You send the springs into the valleys; * they flow between the mountains.
All the beasts of the field drink their fill from them, * and the wild asses quench their thirst.
Beside them the birds of the air make their nests * and sing among the branches.
You make grass grow for flocks and herds * and plants to serve mankind;
The trees of the LORD are full of sap, * the cedars of Lebanon which he planted,
In which the birds build their nests, * and in whose tops the stork makes his dwelling.
The high hills are a refuge for the mountain goats, * and the stony cliffs for the rock badgers.
You make darkness that it may be night, * in which all the beasts of the forest prowl.
The lions roar after their prey * and seek their food from God.
O LORD, how manifold are your works! * in wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
