Welcome to Christmas at Saint Michael and All Angels!

I am so glad you’ve joined us for worship. Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus— the greatest gift to us all!

Together, we are called to become the good news of Jesus. We are called to become the hands and feet of God’s love in the world. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found in the pew back in front of you.

With God’s help, we can make the great promise of living a life of hope and love a reality. When we commit to one another in this church, the work we do at Saint Michael is more than good. The work we do at Saint Michael, the relationships we build, and the vision we carry bring us all closer to God’s kingdom on Earth, now. God’s promise is for you: God came to be with us and God walks with us each day.

As we celebrate the beauty of Christmas and prepare to move into a new year, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to their own towns to be registered. Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
