In memoriam: Steve Aylward ’64 Alumnus & Beloved SLUH Faculty Member “Gone but not forgotten.”

Steve’s Impact and Legacy with his Classmates and Students is Strongly Felt Many SLUH alumni have reached out by calling the school and posting their gratitude for this most respected teacher

“One of my favorite teachers anywhere. While I thoroughly enjoyed his history class, I was struck most by his generosity and encouragement. SLUH didn't offer German when I was there, but when I discovered he studied German in college, I begged him to help me get started. We would work on vocabulary and syntax after class. An amazing man.”

“It takes a special kind to leave such an impression on so many, especially when we were high school kids.”

“Mr. Aylward dragging a desk into the hall… with a student in it…to teach us how the Greeks ostracized… SLUH in a nutshell”

“Very good teacher. He honored his calling!”
