CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: We come to hear the story of God’s faithfulness to past generations; People: but we also look to the future as well as the past. Leader: The God who was with our ancestors is with us as well. People: Then we can go forward in hope. Whatever else fails, God remains faithful. Nothing can separate us from the love of God! Praise be to God! ALL:
THE GOSPEL READING Mark 12:38-44
PRAYER Dr. Sherry L. Daniels
CONGREGATIONAL SINGING “The Old Rugged Cross” By: George Bennard Verse 1 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, The emblem of suff’ring and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best, For a world of lost sinners was slain. Verse 4 To the old rugged cross I will ever be true, Its shame and reproach gladly bear; Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share. Refrain So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown. (Verses 2 & 3 omitted.)
The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord.

Ruth 3:1-5; 4:13-17 Psalm 127
By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church God of Endless Generosity: We lift our offerings to you, fully knowing our gifts fall short when compared with the poor widow Jesus saw who gave two small coins in her temple offering. We know that until we have experienced a moment of that kind of trust, gratitude and sacrifice, we don’t know the heights of joy that generosity can bring us. Until that time, grow our hearts in giving and in compassion for those our offerings will touch and bless. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen. (Mark 12:38-44)
BLESSING AND SENDING FORTH Go in peace.
heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
