Doug & Lindy Peterson
Doug Peterson of D.A. Peterson & Associates; the founding developer of the Gillette Travel Center, has played a pivotal role in the project’s development in collaboration with the late attorney Frank Stevens. Mr. Stevens recognized the potential not only of the 22 acres now designated for the travel center, but also of the entire surrounding acreage on behalf of his client the late Leo Sprigler, and his daughter, Linda Capps. In August 2021, Mr. Stevens approached Mr. Peterson to help bring his vision to life.
As negotiations advanced, Eastern Gillette Development, LLC was established in March 2024, bringing together DA Peterson & Associates, Barker Investments, TKB, LLC, and Kleven Holdings as partners. While their current primary focus is the development of the Gillette Travel Center, the partners have named the surrounding acreage “Capps Ranch” in honor of Linda Capps and her family. This surrounding land is available for future development opportunities.
Doug’s expertise has led him to judge various regional livestock shows across the United States and Canada, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to excellence in livestock production.
In addition to his work in agriculture, Doug manages a diverse range of businesses through Northwest Supply Co. Inc. and D A Peterson Company, LLC. His ventures encompass the development, construction, and management of several hotels and restaurants across three states.
Doug's company constructed the Bowman Lodge & Convention Center in Bowman, North Dakota and undertook a substantial remodel of the Blackstone Inn & Suites in Lead, South Dakota, significantly enhancing the hospitality experience for visitors.
Notable properties under his current management include:

Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Doug has actively engaged in community leadership. He has served as a past Board Member and Chairman for the Lemmon School District 52-4 in Lemmon, South Dakota, and was a Board Member for West River Health Services, which operates facilities in both North and South Dakota.
Doug Peterson embodies the spirit of our community through his hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.
