« If I was an agent I’d be falling over myself to get my acts on at this wonderful festival.» - A London based national promoter

Building on the success of last year’s event, Slottsfjell 2009 again saw a record breaking year for the festival, which took place over the weekend 16-18 July in Tønsberg, Norway’s oldest city. The festival site itself, is steeped in history, recorded in many a viking saga, encompasses the old town castle, one tower of which was rebuilt in the 1800s and still stands proud above the fjord today. In a period of continued instability in the festival market, we are very proud to report a seventh year of continued growth, selling more tickets than ever before. In real terms this now puts us only third in the country in terms of tickets sold per day. We’ve continued to deliver an event where both artists and punters feel well looked after with high production values, beer cheaper than any local pub, a wide variety of food outlets, no litter, and of paramount importance, an event where every band gets a decent audience.

of a Viking castle, the three-day event now in its seventh year not only has some of the most breath taking scenery, but the friendliest patrons too. Âť - The Telegraph

Something we did for the first time in 2008, was to put all our night time activity together under one roof. Well almost. All our club events are now housed at a disused industrial complex, two minuted walk from Tønsberg city centre. This is especially converted into 3000 capacity club venue each year, filled with huge projections and unique artworks and looks not to dissimilar from a rave in 1992, just with a little more organisation and some improved production values.

A FESTIVAL APPEARANCE ISN’T JUST ABOUT PICKING UP A FEE, AND WITH THAT IN MIND, SLOTTSFJELL OFFERS A VARIETY OF CHANNELS EXPOSING ACTS TO THE WIDEST AUDIENCE POSSIBLE. The festival newspaper:

A tabloid format 46 page paper, distributed extensively throughout the south western part of Norway two months before the festival is packed with articles , interviews and previews of acts appearing at the event.

The festival CD:

Given away free in advance at selected locations, showcasing artists that the festival audience are perhaps unfamiliar with, focusing on foreign and local acts.

The festival programme:

We strongly believe that the audience are already paying a pretty penny for their ticket and as such should not be charged further for items like running orders, programmes etc. At Slottsfjell our programme is freely available not just on site, but in the run up to the event from selected outlets and again features artist previews as well as all important running orders and practical information about the festival.
