The novelty in the Zadar Museum of Illusions is the room with a chair that changes the perception of size making the person on the chair exceptionally small with reference to other people in the room. Šibenik is to become the centre of a parallel universe for the fifty sixth time, a universe where ice cream spots are welcome, where one can walk on all four, crawl on squares, shout at actors, climb on stage, turn one’s back to it, sleep, cry, laugh in grandstands, comprehend all or understand nothing... be bored or have great fun, however you may decide in those days and while no one can say that you are not right. You can do anything if you fulfil just one condition: you have to be a child. Then you are a king in this two-week child universe in Šibenik, a universe all the little Šibenik kings have gone through for the past half century. The city becomes a stage, creativity flows down the streets, and squares are points of encounter. Little kings become big shots. The story sets off from the Summer Stage where the International Children’s Festival starts and ends.

Apart from walking around Diocletian's Palace you can also enjoy the city's relaxed Mediterranean vibe - a true antidote for stress. Just sit at the Waterfront or one of city squares, like the locals do. Sitting around a cup of coffee and having endless chats is what the city spirit is all about. Join them! Make sure you take a walk in neighbourhoods where the old Split essence is still present, such as Veli VaroĹĄ and Radunica, or visit MatejuĹĄka, a fishermen's port where spirits of the city's star-

crossed lovers, Roko and Cicibela, are still alive. The Mount Marjan area is ideal for all sorts of recreational activities - walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, kayaking, etc. This forest park located at the western part of the Split peninsula has for ages been the city's main symbol, serving as its watchful guard. People of Split have since the olden days considered Mount Marjan as their spiritual haven. You can also visit the stadium of Croatia's most popular football club, Hajduk, - the famous Poljud Stadium. Founded

back in 1911, the club takes pride in its many trophies and the oldest group of supporters in Europe, Torcida, founded in 1950. 3. Don't forget numerous churches which serve as exceptional monuments of religious architecture, such as St. Domnius' Cathedral, Saint Anthony's Monastery on Poljud, the medieval Church of Holy Trinity, the miniature Saint Martin's Church in the northern wall of Diocletian's Palace, Saint Francis' Church near the Waterfront and the 16th century synagogue.

BEACHBEACHBEACHBEACHBEACH Firule

Bačvice "We are going to Bačvice…", is tune often heard around the town, words of a joyous hymn to the municipal beach, officially designated as such in 1919. Bačvice is a phenomenon of nature, a sandy beach at the heart of the city, in the vicinity of the city harbor, and it can accommodate over ten thousand people. During the low tides in springtime Bačvice turn into a split version of Copacabana where many famous soccer players first displayed their talent, where the rugby in Split was born, where even in wintertime a unique game of "picigin" is played (a sort of volleyball, played in the sea shallows with a small ball). Bačvice today represents a best known promenade for all generations, and during nighttime is the favorite center of nightlife.

Nobody has the lungomare, a promenade by the sea, like Split! All the way from the arjan peak or the Oceanographic institute you can take a stroll along the sea all to the eastern marine city limits like: Bačvice, Ovčice, Firule, Zenta, Trstenik, Duilovo... Because of its fine sand and natural shelter Firule have always proven to be especially interesting for mothers with young children. A recreational pilgrimage to Firule grew more popular as the tennis center was organized here. Nikola Pilić, Željko Franulović, Goran Ivaniševic learned their first serves here as well as Mario Ančić and Jelena Kostanić.

Trstenik

Bene This beach is on the north-eastern part of Marjan. Partly sandy and on the sides rocky beach is hidden in a pine forest. Filled with numerous additional facilities; a restaurant, tennis courts, playground for children, showers, changing cabins, makes it ideal for families. Only bus number 12 drives directly to this beach, the alternative is by foot. Next to the beach is a part adapted for the disabled, including a lift aiding the disabled on their way into the sea. This beach is ideal for playing card games, namely traditional "trešeta" and "briškula" usually played by the locals.

Thursday/june/16/2016

Beach Trstenik is on the east side of the city of Split, right next to Zenta and Žnjan beach. Pebble beach with an easy entrance into the sea is ideal for families with children. Recently renewed part of the Hotel Radisson Blue beach offers its visitors also the possibility of a VIP treatment. Due to the sustainable management the beach has been awarded the Blue Flag.

Žnjan Beach Žnjan has settled in between beach Trstenik on the west and Duilovo on the east. It became very popular among the citizens of Split with the arrival of John Paul II to Split in 1998. Besides being an ideal promenade and a leisure destination for the citizens of Split, it thrives with numerous restaurants, bars, cafés, playgrounds, trampolines for children and other facilities.

Split

The port of sports 8 This weekend will be all about Split's original sport called picigin at the World Picigin days! The Bačvice Beach will host a real celebration so join us at the event that is open to all visitors without any charge. People of Split and their guests will play beach futsal as well as picigin, nogbi and picigola - all sports invented in Split. These days also mark an (un)official beginning of the season at the Bačvice Beach even though everybody knows that people enjoy its benefits throughout the year.

Supetar from an e v i t c e p s r e p t n e r e f f di

In the deep shade of a small park at the far end of the Supetar waterfront stands the bust of the famous Croatian sculptor and father of modern sculpture in - Ivan Rendić. Have you heard of him? Who hasn’t. AUTHOR milena budimir

Ivan Rendić has left a rich fund of works and according to his drawings the magnificent church tower was built in Ložišće on the island of Brač. The monumental tomb in Supetar Cemetery is not the place of his last resting nor is it his work, even though many think so. His grave lies a few metres further, completely inconspicuous, even though many would expect it to be adorned with one of his sculptures, as many such sculptures can be seen in this resting place. These interesting points that intertwine with the life and works of Rendić, a chil-

a somewhat different Supetar, across localities that intertwine with the life of Rendić. It consists of several stops among which the one where autochthonous Brač wine is tasted. But let’s start from the beginning… Start is from the bust in

the park and then across Ulica kipara Rendića Street that leads to his family house. To the left are the parish church and the vestiges of an Early Christian church from the 6th century, while to the right stands the tower with the famous clock, the recognizable symbol of Supetar. This is where the house of Rendić is situated. Even if he was by chance born in Imotksi, he spent his childhood in this building and his first relief can be found on the facade of the building. Vrdolac follows, a green town oasis, the place of Rendić’s old age which we found out along with a lot of information on the first beginnings of the town which go back to Roman Empire times. The park where Renidć usually rested is well loved by the people of Supetar, mainly for the peace and shade offered under the Mediterranean hackberry. The tour then leads to the old cisterns from which a phenomenal view extends over Supetar, its old roofs, sights not seen from its waterfront, port, beach that are visited by tourists. The seventh stop is the bu i ld i n g wher e R end ić Gallery is situated. It has 18 sculptures made by the author and numerous drawings, reliefs...

Paradox is absolutely the hit place in Split, and their tapas, helping portions of cheese with honey, jam, dry fruit and prosciutto are a regular quick dish with a glass of good wine. Even though Paradox does not serve regular tapas, the inhabitants of Split have decided to give these that name. - We are not a tapas bar, we serve 25, sometimes even 30 types of cheeses that come in various combinations. We also serve marinated anchovies, sweet bacon, duck breasts and similar, but people mainly like to eat cheese and prosciutto – says Zoran Pejović from Paradox who is, at the moment, running a successful Split restaurant called Paradigma. Pejović states that Paradox is not that young any more, they have been open for five seasons and guests have recognized their quality. - We have something specific. We present our food nicely, particularly the cheeses, and we inform each guest on the history of the served cheese, where it comes from and of what taste and tradition. Even though we have a number of imported cheeses, we mainly offer domestic ones, Dalmatian cheeses – adds Pejović and he also likes to eat tapas in Paradox.

DRINK in vinoNOW veritas

WINES Croatia is well known for great wines that receive awards all over the world. These are a few authentical sorts that you just have to try while in different Croatian regions AUTHOR SAŠA ŠPIRANEC

Wine is one of the most valuable elements of the Croatian tradition and gastronomic heritage. For as long as these parts have been inhabited, wine has been an inseparable component of both the daily routine and festivities. Over centuries, each Croatian wine region developed its own distinctive wine varieties that fully adapted to the climate, soil and expectations of their residents. When you find yourself in one of the wine regions of Croatia such as Dalmatia, Istria, Hilly Croatia or Slavonia, don’t forget to taste some of the wines favorite among the local population.

8

8

When in Istria, malvasia is the most important variety to try. A white wine full of freshness and pleasant aromas of ripe fruits, such as peaches and hints of blossoming acacias. In addition to this basic edition, malvasia can also be found in more ambitious forms after ageing for a long time and developing a co-mplex aromatic set.

In Dalmatia, it is plavac mali. This is the most important and the most represented red variety in Croatia. It yields soft, ripe and succulent wines when offered in a lower price range and originates from Dalmatian fields situated in ravines hidden in endless karst. On the

other hand, when it comes from steep slopes facing the sun and the sea, usually from islands or peninsulas such as Hvar, Brač and Pelješac, it gives powerful, warm, strong and ripe wines, perfectly reflecting the harsh conditions that created them with their richness and concentration.

When in Hilly Croatia, look for aromatic white varieties such as sauvignon blanc or Riesling (locally referred to as rajnski rizling). They also use many other varieties to make wine in the region, but what they all have in common are lively acids and a highly refreshing character. The wines of Hilly Croatia work ideally as an aperitif, refreshment in summertime, or to go with a light meal.

Slavonia and the Danube Region are an empire of graševina, the most important and represented white variety, but also a general type. Graševina is a good-time wine, and is ideal to go with your lunch. It is normally bold and refreshing with attractive aromas of apple, pineapple or citrus, and is offered at very affordable prices. Sometimes, when it comes from later harvests, it shows quite a different face and its aromas, such as meadow flowers and chamomile, become dominant in the riper, softer and richer flavor.

The day goes by Breakfast whether on board or on shore. After the breakfast depending where you are anchored, you could do some grocery shopping, swimming, sightseeing, fishing or simply preparing the boat for the trip to the next destination. When choosing the route consult the weather charts. Practice your tacking and jibing. However, if you are not such an adventurous type find some nice bay to anchor and enjoy your lunch in peace. Time until dinner can also be spent sailing if the weather permitting. However, a more relaxing option would be to enjoy the sun and the sea by sunbathing and swimming.

Traditionally, a mojito is a cocktail that consists of five ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water, and mint. Main alchocol is rum.

What to see...

What to see...

What to see...

What to see...

The story of Split is already 17 centuries old, dating to the time the Roman Emperor Diocletian decided to build his Palace right on the peninsula near the great Roman city Salona, where he wanted to spend the last years of his life. Diocletian's Palace is among the best preserved monuments of the Roman building heritage in the world,. it is must see.

Sea Organ is situated on the western end of Zadar´s Riva, and can be observed as a differently shaped part of the coast which consists of several stairs that descend into the sea.The Greeting to the Sun is on Istarska obala, at the very end of the Zadar peninsula.

Šibenik is in the central part of the Croatian Adriatic Coast, in the picturesque and indented bay where the Krka River, one of the most beautiful karst rivers in Croatia enters the sea. Šibenik today extends along the 100 kilometre long coastline between the Zadar and Split Rivieras, extending up to 45 kilometres into the hinterland area, at the bottom of Dinara mountain..

Old City Walls – the old city walls of Dubrovnik encompass the entire old city and run unbroken for almost 2 kilometres. The walls are a symbol of the city and offer glorious views over the city and the Adriatic Sea.

The valley is dominated by the river Gacka which springs at one end of the valley and sinks underground on the opposite end. Gacka is the third longest sinking river in the world. The Gacka source area consists of numerous smaller springs, the three strongest being the Tonković Vrilo, Klanac and Majerovo Vrilo. The springs resembling little lakes are very picturesque. This river is also world-famous for trout. Explore old watermills - malenice, many of which have been reconstructed in a traditional style. robert fajt
