Welcome to Sligo today. Several years ago while pastoring in New York, I discovered a briefcase one evening sitting on the sidewalk just outside the entrance to my church. October 1, Saturday Now, this was not unusual, as it was pretty common Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. in that neighborhood to find items that had been “conveniently” left behind. Upon further investigation, it October 3, Monday became apparent that this briefcase had been stolen and discarded Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. just outside the church. Inside I found no identification, other than important immigration documents. Based on this information I was October 5, Wednesday able to track down the owner, which was a Russian family that was Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. migrating to the United States, only to have their briefcase stolen at (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) the airport which was near my church. The family was so overjoyed that I had taken the time to locate them that one of them wanted to October 6, Thursday reward me for my efforts, which I graciously refused. I didn’t feel right Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 6:30 p.m. accepting a reward for doing the right thing. But did you know that God has a reward planned for all who remain faithful in this life? And if God is going to reward us based on our efforts, then are we truly saved by grace? - Charles A. Tapp
