Sligo’s 5th annual Tennis Social will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24 at Fairland Sports and Aquatic Complex (13950 Old Gunpowder Road, Laurel, MD 20707). It’s Time for Action! The Sligo AIM Team will meet in Fellowship Hall B on Sunday, February 25, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. to discuss the 2018 AIM Agenda and upcoming Spring 2018 action. Please plan to attend and bring a friend with you. Many thanks to Sligo members for your role in making our Annual AIM Walk the most rewarding yet. We were blessed to raise $8,835.41! The New Tax Plan: Do you want to know how the new tax plan will affect you, your loved ones and your finances? If so, you are invited to attend a seminar, conducted by an expert on the subject in Fellowship Hall A, Tuesday, February 27, commencing at 7:00 pm. Young Adults GLOW Worship & Homeless Feeding: GLOW Worship Service for Young Adults: Come join us on September 2 for the young adult worship service (ages 18-35). GLOW Worship starts at 11:15 a.m. in the Youth Room! Pr. Joseph Khabbaz will share a message titled, “Moving On From Empty.” This worship service is held on the first Sabbath of each month. At 2:00 p.m. GLOW Outreach feed the Homeless in D.C., we will meet in the Discipleship Room at Sligo Church to prepare meals. OpportuniTEA, the SOS tea and silent auction scheduled for Sunday, February 18, here at Sligo, has been postponed. Please watch for announcements of the new date. We look forward to your being with us for this elegant afternoon tea. Financial Workshop: Have you ever wished someone would show you how to prepare a budget for yourself or how to balance your checking account? Or what about finding a reputable person to call for home and appliance repairs? These and other financial issues will be discussed at the Financial Workshop on Sunday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall A, sponsored by the Heartlifters. All are invited to attend. Welcome to Sligo today. Have you ever noticed that there are some words that are easier to explain than to define? For many, the word paradox is one of them. February 17, Saturday Simply put, a paradox is a seemingly absurd or selfYoung Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. contradictory statement that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or even true. So much so that someone February 21, Wednesday once said that, “Without paradoxes, there is no Christianity.” Take for instance what Jesus shared in John 17. While praying to his Father Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. on the eve of his crucifixion, he says that we are to be in the world but Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. not of it. What did Jesus mean by this and how does he expect us to apply it to our lives? - Charles A. Tapp

(1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).
