welcome

Welcome to Sligo. While driving to church earlier this week, I did what I often do which is listen to the radio. The kind of mood I’m in will determine, to a large December 16, Saturday degree, my station of choice. On this particular day, Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. I decided to channel surf the dial to see what would catch my fancy, even though there are six frequencies December 17, Sunday that I have preprogrammed so that at any time I can quickly go to one of my favorites. But while listening to a Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. religious station, I heard the pastor who was preaching remind his Annual Christmas Brunch for SS Leaders, Atrium, 10:00 a.m. congregation that the work of Christianity is one that begins from the inside-out, not the outside-in. When I heard these words, my December 18, Monday mind quickly thought of our theme for Advent this year which is, Recovery Ministry, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. The Hope of Glory.” This is based on Paul’s words to the Colossian believers, found in Colossians 1:27, “Christ in you, the hope of glory,” December 20, Wednesday Paul’s words remind us that it is only the result of Christ’s Spirit Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. working from within that will produce the transformation that we so desperately need in our lives. Not a sermon, but a great thought for us Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. to remember this season and every season. - Charles A. Tapp
