STACY LAUTZENHEISER CREATIVE + ART DIRECTION

hello.

let’s get to work

I have always been a visual person. I love color. Typography. Patterns. Composition. Layout. I love understanding how people experience things visually. I love solving problems creatively.

I am a fan of the classics. Mid-century modern. Architecture. Design. Furniture. I was inspired years ago by a lecture I had the pleasure of attending in which the design legend Massimo Vignelli said “If you can design one thing, you can design everything. A good designer should be able to design a spoon or a city.” I have taken this to heart as I’ve grown in my career. I believe the things I create should be user-friendly and elegant in their simplicity—yet modern, reflecting emerging technologies, aesthetics and messaging.

Today, the most exciting scienti c breakthroughs come from the convergence of disciplines, and that’s why USC Norris values and supports transdisciplinary collaboration. USC Norris researchers represent 31 di erent departments and seven schools across USC’s dynamic campus. Together as a cancer- ghting community, our scientists are dedicated to saving lives and improving quality of life. anks to our cuttingedge research, USC Norris patients have access to the latest clinical trials. And each day we discover new ways to diagnose cancer more quickly, new treatment methods, and new strategies to prevent cancer altogether.

Now we must not hesitate. Now we must be bold and push our best ideas forward. Now we must advance the frontiers of cancer science. Now we must expand the tools and practices we use to heal patients. Now we must be more compassionate than ever before. Now we must invest in our people. Now we must make the fight against cancer even more personal.

Metastatic breast cancer is not a death sentence.

The liquid biopsy we are developing at USC Norris to detect metastatic breast cancer will be the first test of its kind.

Putting

an

End to Breast Cancer Recurrence

The liquid biopsy we are developing at USC Norris to detect metastatic breast cancer will be the first test of its kind.

Only a few years ago, it seemed next to impossible to predict whose breast cancer was likely to recur. But powerful new technology and next generation research have led to a new level of understanding about breast cancer recurrence. Our research teams at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center are conducting exciting new investigations into the mechanics of breast cancer recurrence—and developing potential targets that could finally make the recurrence of breast cancer both manageable and survivable.

Turning today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s therapies.

Promising cancer discoveries in the laboratory must be mined for their potential development into cancer-killing therapies.

The most powerful tool you have to fight cancer is your own immune system.

We can use a patient’s own cells to fight cancer.

A Unique Center for Drug Development for All

The days of the great scientist working alone are past. Today, scientists collaborate in multidisciplinary teams—like at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. With a record of large clinical trials, unique cancer genomic and drug development expertise, and worldclass researchers, USC Norris promotes innovation and collaboration to address cancer’s biggest challenges. With one of the most racially and socio-economically diverse patient populations in the nation, our quest to make cancer a disease of the past will impact communities around the world.

Immunotherapy: A Revolution in Cancer Treatment

There’s a revolution in cancer treatment, which may herald the end of cancer as a deadly disease. Leading this revolution, our researchers at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center are developing new ways to harness an individual’s own immune system to identify, attack and kill cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells unharmed. The immune system is remarkable and, supercharged by new immunotherapies, it is more powerful in killing certain cancers than any other cancer treatment available today.

Max Osterweis first conceived of womenswear label SUNO in 2008 after witnessing post-election violence in Kenya. Utilizing the vast collection of Kenyan Kangas he had gathered over years of traveling, Max joined forces with Erin Beatty, a Parson’s graduate and designer for The Gap and Generra, to launch a high-end collection with a conscience. Since its inception, SUNO has evolved to include production in Kenya, India, Peru and its home base of New York. SUNO utilizes the local talent of each country it works with to create a fresh and optimistic collection of unique prints, textures and embroideries layered together to build a bright and modern wardrobe for a confident independent woman.

SUNO was a 2011 and 2012 finalist in the Vogue/CFDA fashion fund and a 2012 Nominee for the CFDA’s Swarovski Award for Women’s Wear.
