Thank you to everyone for the tremendous effort put forth to Improve Every Life.
As any group that has gone through the challenge of implementing a new vision knows,it can be strenuous work. I’m happy to say we have approached this challenge with great positivity. I enjoy reading our weekly messages about how we are improving each others lives and look forward to the continued responses. One tremendous example of this positivity was our response to a colleague in a dire situation. This past December saw Dr. Robert Meguid’s family through a rough healthcare crisis while they were traveling out of the country. They have shared their story with us all in “A Rescue in Australia”, reprinted here. As you read this account, it will become apparent how much we support each other. It is truly a privilege to be part of such a close-
knit team. We are extremely grateful to have Rob back. The past few months have been rewarding in a number of areas. We continue to add key faculty and staff throughout our department who will be instrumental in advancements in research, clinical and academic areas. We have developed research partnerships and secured funding that allows for groundbreaking work. Our clinics continue to receive recognition as the top in their field; while our faculty continue to be recognized for their dedication to their specialties. Congratulations to Vijay Vemulakonda, MD; Elizabeth Pomfret, MD, PhD; Joseph Cleveland, Jr., MD; Alberto Pena, MD; and Muhammad Aftab, MD for the recognition received from their
As always it continues to be my privilege to share our successes and upcoming events with you. I hope you enjoy the newsletter that follows.
