Mixed-Use

The project is located in the business district of Guanxi and aims to build up a unique architecture identifier for a recognizable land mark project, where the promising hill top park became an inspiration to create a new public square and cultural space, in order to meet the needs of the general public and leisure activities.

Careful thoughts have been given to the interaction of various function zones in order to put the project’s center location to full use.

It is an urban mixed use project consisting of a city square with 1 Soho tower, 2 residential towers, an urban leisure park (the patriotic hill park), centralized commercial area and open pedestrian sand.

The project connects into the city center, forming an extension of the existing mature commercial street.

The massing preserves the existing streetscape and responds to length and height of existing buildings. This mantains a human scale and promotes a livable and walkable city.

The high rise buildings are set back from the edge of the main street; This lightens their effect on strategic view on the city.

02 Bao An Industrial Headquarter

Shenzhen _ China (2013) Urban Complex

The project located on the National Highway to Guangzhou adjacent to the airport, is developed like an Headquarter for a vanguard National company, to create high-quality, brand-name design. The main part is destined for Business (office, research and development areas) and low rise parts for commercial with independent shops as a retail target for renting.

The main idea is to create a set of design office, entertainment and residential complex project where the commercial towers are connected to the ground to increase the commercial value, for livable and user-friendly public spaces, joining the two different functions, for a formation of a characterized and vivid architectural image.

The project is located in a very busy commercial district of Shenzhen with a total construction area of 73880 m².

The high density of the plot, creates a fusion of two residential towers in a unique high-rise element with a layout that encourages airflow, naturally ventilating, cooling the overall structure and creating a spatial use more interesting for better distinguish it from other residential developments nearby also using an arrangement of private gardens with double and triple height spaces.

The podium design, develops curves and non-linear shapes to complement the tower, with a strong development for the relations between positive and negative spaces aimed for young target clients.

Program Massing

A miss-match of angles, balconies and cantilevers creates a dramatic corner composition.

Cultural Space

The challenge for this competition was try to change people’s conventional cognition and perception of space, using an articulated system of circulation following the existing heights of the site, to create a museum also used like a cultural space.

The result is a adaptable building that share and mix the visitors in a curious journey between galleries, double-height spaces and services for a continue dialogue with the balconies and the open courtyard, that was designed like a raised independent plaza for summer events, where the parterre is totally integrated in the existing square.

Facing the Chinese South Sea the location of this resort allowed an eclectic mix of materials, inspired by the fishing village like an accumulation of small structures built up over time, raised structures, cantilevers and structural extensions with mis-alignments.

The scale and character of a fishing community connects to the traditions and culture of this site, then smaller buildings map closely the contours of the site.

An informal and unplanned arrangement of the massing reacts to the sweep of the bay and the inflections of the rocks, using thatch & straw materials to enchant the marine feelings through the building.

The Features of this Campus follow 2 main like schools "spine", integrating the river (passing along one side) through the plot and the public facilities to improve the quality of them and creating a smart and sustainable layout of the buildings, breaking up the formal approach in the waterscape area.

The osmotic design on the ground floor create an interesting penetration between the teaching and main buildings (stadium, library, ,canteen‌).

Special commitment was given also for the facades to achieve high performances during all the seasons to get an efficient natural lighting inside the classrooms and the laboratories. About the office buildings have a different facade approach, to achieve a formal effect along the main street.
