Beth and Tim share a moment as a newly married couple. Mountains form the backdrop of the relationship between Beth Toeniskoetter and Tim Bock. They live in the foothills at the edge of Denver and they spend much of their free time in the Colorado mountains.

One of the most famous alpine settings in the world will forever hold a meaningful place in their memories: Tim and Beth became engaged during a ski vacation to Zermatt, Switzerland. They went there because they had IKON ski passes, which are valid at 45 resorts around the world – including both Steamboat and Zermatt.

“It was a calm night,” Beth recalls. “It was just beautiful.”

Because the couple had enjoyed their Steamboat experiences in the past, it was a natural choice for their wedding. “We liked the little lower elevation (than other Colorado mountain towns), and the airport made it easy to get to.”

The couple had originally planned to host 150 people more than they were eventually allowed to invite, due to COVID restrictions, but Beth and Tim came to appreciate the intimate gathering. “Honestly, we had time to spend with friends and family. We were lucky to be able to have a wedding at all,” Beth says.

COVID added to the stress of planning the weekend, but that was in part alleviated by the support of wedding planner Alaina Johnson of Root & Gather, Rachel Radetsky of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp, and the other vendors.

“I’m sure you count on them in normal times, but with the COVID regulations changing all the time, they were just in it with us. It was hard emotionally, but they were really communicative. It was a beautiful weekend because of their help,” Beth says.

The first look turned out to be one of Beth’s most memorable moments. Then the ceremony began, and it was totally stress-free, she recalls, after all the COVID concerns and fall weather worries. “The wind calmed down,” she says, and it was an idyllic fall afternoon, with temperatures around 65°, blue skies and the tail end of fall colors. One of the bride’s favorite moments was walking down the aisle with her father. “It was so fun to see all of these people I love so much,” Beth says. Beth wore a strapless gown by Anne Barge. The top had a fitted corset, while buttons adorned the back. “I love it so much,” Beth says. “It was fun to wear, and it was pretty comfortable for a really fitted dress.” The veil made for a lighthearted moment (and perfect photo opp) when the breeze sent it flying into a guest’s face.

Following the mountaintop ceremony, guests returned to Gondola Square, where the reception kicked off with cocktails at Timber & Torch. After dinner, the bride and groom had their traditional first dance, followed by the groom/ mother, and bride/father dance. Other than that, no dancing was allowed, due to restrictions on social gatherings.

The newly married couple spent the rest of the weekend in Steamboat with their guests before heading out on their honeymoon, which included stops in Aspen, the Crested Butte area and Telluride.

as the weekend approached, it became exactly what we had pictured all along. All of us gathered together with the leaves changing around us, blue Colorado skies, at the top of Steamboat surrounded by the love of our immediate family and closest friends.”
