Kelly Bastone
Champagne Powder® brought writer Kelly Bastone to the Yampa Valley 20 years ago, and she still loves chasing snow on resort, backcountry and Nordic skis. Only now, she’s joined by her 10-year-old daughter, Simone, who already outguns her mama on the groomers. Bastone shares her tips – and others’ too – on how to grow a ski-loving kid (page 35). When she’s not skiing, Bastone writes for Outside, 5280 and The Red Bulletin.

Sophie Dingle
Sophie Dingle writes about the Paper Crane Foundation, an organization started by Steamboat Springs locals with the goal of helping those affected by PTSD (page 50). “Learning about the foundation and their mission and goals, as well as their recent expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro and all that the group accomplished, was fascinating,” Dingle says. “I am honored to share their story with our community, and I know we will see great opportunities and advances come from this nonprofit in the future.”
Dagny McKinley
“I have a passion for Steamboat history,” says Dagny McKinley, who wrote “The Hitchens Brothers: A Lasting Legacy” (Page 40). “Every time I discover a new family or person who contributed to Steamboat’s development, I feel like I have a new friend. I also get to learn about the people who have preserved the history and heritage of our community. How lucky am I?”
