It started with a mom, dad and new baby in 2003. In 2003, Ellen and Michael Diamant founded Skip Hop when they introduced the Duo, the world’s first stroller bag. With a multitude of innovative features including the first stroller straps, diaper bags would never be the same. With the Duo’s clean and modern design, diaper bags finally moved beyond decades of teddy bears and gingham. Ellen and Michael started the company with little experience in consumer products, manufacturing or distribution. Ellen was a branding and advertising design executive, while Michael, a serial entrepreneur, was a refugee from the pre-bubble Internet era. Together, they proved the adage that if you don’t know what you can’t do, you can accomplish anything. With an unlimited enthusiasm for innovation and great design, they brought their outsider’s eye to a wide range of new parenting products. Along with their renowned diaper bags, they re-imagined feeding products and produced their iconic, IDEA award winning Splash bottle drying rack. They introduced the whimsical Moby bath spout cover which became in instant best seller in bath safety. They were amazed that nobody had tried to improve on the A-B-C foam floor tiles, and the unique, decor-friendly Playspot was born and enthusiastically received all over the world. And the company continues to surprise and delight customers with new products in a broad range of categories, with new additions in developmental toys, bedding and nursery decor, all of which include the Skip Hop hallmarks of great design, innovation and quality.
Giving Back Every time we sell a Skip Hop product, a percentage of the profits goes towards a number of causes that are much more important than we are. A portion of all purchases helps to support The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (www.ocrf.org), and Baby Buggy (www.babybuggy.org ) along with dozens of local charities.
