Gratitude starts with a Home.
This past year has been a remarkable testament to the power of community, compassion, and commitment. At Indian River Habitat for Humanity, we are reminded daily that gratitude is not simply a feeling—it is the foundation upon which hope and opportunity are built. And for many families, that gratitude begins with the stability of a safe, decent, and affordable home.
Opportunity starts with a Home.
Because of your partnership, families in Indian River County are finding strength, stability, and self-reliance. Parents are thankful for the security of homeownership, where they can raise their children in safety. Students are grateful for a quiet place to study and dream. Seniors and veterans, through critical home repairs, are thankful to remain in their homes with dignity. Each story we witness is a reminder that your generosity is transforming lives.
Resilience starts with a Home.
This year also reminded us how fragile life can be. When disaster struck our community, many families faced unexpected loss and hardship. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and partners, Habitat was able to respond quickly—providing critical repairs, resources, and reassurance to neighbors in need. In those moments of uncertainty, the power of community was on full display.
Hope starts with a Home.
Behind every door opened and every home repaired is a story of resilience and hope—and behind every story is a community of donors, volunteers, and partners like you who make this mission possible. Together, we are not just building and repairing homes, but building futures filled with gratitude and opportunity.
As we look ahead, we are filled with appreciation for your continued trust and investment in Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We invite you to read the stories and reflections in this report and join us in celebrating the transformative power of Home.
With heartfelt thanks,

Trevor J. Loomis President & CEO
Projects Update
Located on 40th Avenue in Gifford, this 14-home neighborhood is a redevelopment project in partnership with Indian River County. 14 HOMES

Featuring 32 new single-family homes, this subdivision at the corner of 27th Avenue and 4th Street is perfect for new workforce housing. An elementary school, churches, playgrounds, and recreation spaces are all within walking distance for families with young children. The site plan provides for green space, upland preservation, and will feature 100% native plant species in the landscape. 32 HOMES
Construction of 139 homes is now complete.
30 Homes
A new partnership with the City of Sebastian will provide opportunities for the construction of at least 30 new single-family homes, adding desperately needed workforce housing solutions for working families in Sebastian.
Planning and engineering for an 8-acre parcel along the 45th St. corridor that will feature up to 50 new homes is ongoing.

Resilience Starts with a Home
Veteran Jim & Joyce Nantz’s Story
Jim and Joyce Nantz have been married 69 years, living in the same home in Vero Beach for 55 years. They raised two girls and ran a community business while in that home. Last October, Category 3 Hurricane Milton hit Florida. Making its way across the state, four recorded tornadoes hit Indian River County, causing extensive damage and power outages.
Jim and Joyce chose to ride out the storm in the home where they had spent most of their lives. With both inside, a tornado that resulted from the hurricane came directly through their home, causing extensive damage to the roof, windows, and more.
“It felt like a bomb went off,” stated Jim, a Navy veteran.

Dealing with expensive insurance rates, the Nantzes had decided to no longer insure their paid-off home. The hurricane damages forced them to move in with one of their daughters. Joyce remained resilient, saying, “It didn’t frighten me at all. I knew the Lord was with us.”
Their Pastor recommended Indian River Habitat for Humanity for repairs. Through the Indian River Habitat Home Repair Program, and thanks to a partnership with John’s Island Foundation, the Nantzes home was restored.
“If it hadn’t been for Indian River Habitat, we don’t know what we would be doing,” said Jim. “You don’t know how nice it was to see people working over there,” He stated, referring to the home repairs.

Yasha Williams’ Story
Hope Starts with a Home
“Indian River Habitat is the door that finally opened for me,” says Yasha Williams.
For this single mother of three, finding a great home she could afford in a good neighborhood that was close to where she and her family could access good schools and other essentials was simply an absolute must. As the mother of a child with autism, a safe home and environment were paramount.
“The more I kept trying things, the more doors closed,” Yasha explained when discussing how difficult it was for her family to keep hope that they could find and afford safe and stable housing. The high cost of housing has become an incredible burden on many working families in our community.
Yasha’s mother, also a Habitat homeowner, played a significant role in inspiring Yasha’s desire to join the Habitat Homebuyer Program. With her home nearly complete, Yasha, one of the faces
of Women Build 2025 says, “Habitat has given me an infinite amount of hope.”
“Build a Team. Build a House. Build Hope” was the theme for the 2025 Women Build. Yasha says that she can’t explain enough about what the Habitat community has done for her and her family to give them hope for a stable home where they can make memories of a lifetime. Now it is her time to shine!

Indian River Habitat for Humanity recognizes, with gratitude, the individuals listed here who have informed us of their intention to provide for the organization through their estate or bequests that have been realized.
