Sussman Village Apartments: If you like single bedrooms and a furnished apartment with a kitchen, ample social space and your own laundry room, this is it!

North Woods: Get lost or find yourself in the 250-acre North Woods. The many interconnected trails make up our own beautiful Central Park, right here on campus.

Murray-Aikins Dining Hall: Stop in for a creative course du jour. Grab your friends and gather around one of the three fireplaces for a relaxing break from classes.

Tang Teaching Museum: Designed by renowned architect Antoine Predock, the Tang Museum’s nearly 40,000 square feet of exhibition and program space invite curiosity and collaboration.

Here’s what green means to us.

It’s more than just our school color.

Sustainability is a major focus when it comes to stewarding our more than 1,000 acres of forested campus. Each year, scores of students work on projects that target waste, energy use, food transportation and healthy living.

In recent years, our Community Garden has produced more than 6,000 pounds of organic food for the dining hall. We’ve saved 70,000 tons of campus waste from the landfill, thanks to our student-run composting program, and we’ve cut 55 percent of greenhouse gas emissions since 2000 through efforts like the college’s BikeMore program.

Residence halls primarily house first- and second-year students, where you and a few friends, classmates and fellow suitemates share a common bathroom. Most floors are coed, but you can choose options such as all-women, gender-neutral or substance-free floors.

Our sought-after student apartment complexes, Northwoods Village and Sussman Village, house mostly juniors and seniors. Each apartment has a fully furnished common area including an equipped kitchen, plus laundry facilities in each building. No wonder so many students choose to live on campus.

Growing out, dining in Skidmore’s Community Garden was inspired several years ago by our own students and support from the Sustainability Office.

Located in the heart of campus, the garden annually supplies more than 1,000 pounds of organic food to Skidmore’s dining hall and the Saratoga Farmers’ Market. It also provides a venue for students interested in environmental issues, social justice and economic development to learn about and build the local food movement.

At Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, we have fun with our food, adding plenty of spins on the traditional dining experience— including an entire dinner dedicated to waffles to help students de-stress during finals, a whole day full of chicken fingers and themed meals inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Game of Thrones and more. Picked by Business Insider as the seventh-best college food in the U.S., everything from vegan specialties to international foods is whipped up by award-winning chefs every day. We’ve also gone completely trayless to cut down on food waste, and even get seasonal use of organic veggies from our campus garden.
