The data centre sector is at a pivotal stage in its evolution.
According to some estimates, by 2025, we could be generating more than 463 exabytes of data globally, with data centres reportedly already accounting for around 1% of global electricity use.
Amidst an unprecedented backdrop of rapid growth in demand for compute, we are faced with increasing scrutiny on consumption of power and environmental impact – while struggling with an ongoing skills shortage. Remote and hybrid working have introduced new challenges, as the industry grapples with the post-pandemic impact on things like cybersecurity and connectivity. The next few years are critical for the digital infrastructure industry.
Critical Insight, a brand-new event for the data centre sector, will explore all of these topics and more.
Set to take place on 22 and 23 November 2022, the two-day virtual event will provide a platform for key industry leaders to discuss their expert insight and opinion on the crucial issues impacting the changing landscape of the sector.
Brought to you in association with Data Centre Review, the inaugural event will provide an opportunity for attendees and a diverse line-up of experts to get to grips with new regulations, new innovations and be a part of the conversation that will help to shape the future of the industry.

How we work with and use data is rapidly evolving – what are the new cyber threats we need to be aware of, and how can we mitigate them?
Day 2
09:00 – Welcome Back
Kayleigh Hutchins, Editor of Data Centre Review, welcomes everyone back for day two of Critical Insight.
09:05 – Keynote: The UK’s Digital Strategy
The UK government is taking steps to make the UK a science and tech superpower, and recently called for a consultation on cloud and data centre security. What role will the data centre sector play in this ambitious plan, and what regulation is headed our way?
09:35 – Telecoms & 5G
What does the dawn of 5G mean for the data centre sector?
10:05 – Panel: Designing Data Centres
With supply chain issues and new sustainability requirements at the top of the agenda, how are we changing the way we design new builds – and what are we doing to modernise legacy data centres?
10:50 – Powering the Sector
With the climate crisis at the forefront of our minds, is there a more sustainable way to power the data centre?
11:35 – Cooling
Cooling is a major speedbump in the data centre’s journey to reduce its carbon footprint. What cooling innovations will be key to the next step in the data centre’s evolution?
