Look out 007 - the Mad Science Spy Academy is here! From message decoding to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and even create their own edible message. Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Figure out the science of forensics in a hands-on look at crime scenes. Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on view of the science that spies use. The take-homes for this camp were designed by "Q" himself. SUPER HERO TRAINING CAMP
KAPOW!! Calling all Super Hero's! In this adventure filled camp we will create Super Hero names, learn about Super Hero's, have story time, and do lots of arts and crafts. Super Hero's will learn basic tumbling to help train them in their Super Hero movements. They will practice using their X ray vision, be tested on their balance, coordination, and Super Hero skills as we go through obstacle courses, compete in events, & play games! TEEN CAMP @ THE SPOT
At Teen Camp at The Spot, your teen will participate in an unforgettable summer day camp experience with camp traditions. Teens will play crazy fun games, sports, cooking activities, create cool arts and crafts, and embark on a weekly adventure. Each week will have a theme and special activities or guests. There will be a field trip twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Campers need to bring water, lunch and sunscreen each day. Campers may also bring their own spending money on field trip days. Each field trip day, Teen Camp at The Spot will depart from and return to The Spot at Bret Harte Middle School, located at 7050 Bret Harte Drive San Jose CA 95120 unless otherwise noted on the weekly schedule. The registration fee includes supervision (10:1), admission fees (unless otherwise noted), and transportation (via San JosÊ vehicles, City Transit, or Charter Bus). VIDEO GAME DESIGN
Participants in this class will learn how to design the concept and elements of basic, 2-dimensional computer/video games. The instructor will help guide the software development, with design guidance from the students. Students work in small groups to collaborate on at least one finished game. Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both! The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build structures using simple tools and their imaginations. Campers will even construct a geodesic dome big enough for all of them to sit inside. Then the machine madness starts. Children will discover how different machines, simple and complex, are used in our daily lives. Kids will design simple machines using pulleys, wedges, screws and levers and have fun learning how catapults work. We will use the skills we've learned to build a Mad Science robot that we can keep, all while learning the science of robotics.
