34.4 years of memories as Carol retires from Pinelodge

We’re tickled pink! Wow- what a fabulous job our McGrath Breast Care nurses did as they debuted their presentation skills via Facebook Live last night. Liz Douglass and Katie Cao led the free Facebook Live event and taught viewers how to look out for changes in their breasts, how to perform a breast exam and what to expect following a cancer diagnosis. In keeping with our strategy to cross-promote our whole-person care in Melbourne’s south east, we promoted the Berwick Rapid Access Breast Clinic, Frankston’s breast cancer rehabilitation and Pinelodge’s mental health support as part of our breast cancer support package. The event had fantastic engagement with: - 1,472 reach (number of unique people who saw our content in their news feed) - 756 engagement (number of people who watched the event) - 31 likes - 26 comments - 4 shares (people who shared the clip)

Today is Carol Davis’ last day at PLC after an impressive 34.4 year career. Thank you Carol for so many of years of service and hard work. You have been a valued part of the St John of God team and will be sorely missed. We hope retirement brings you well deserved rest, good health and much happiness. “I began working here (PLC) on 29th June 1986, at the time my plan was to stay for 2 years. However, 34.4 years later my love and passion to serve others, along with the opportunitites for advancement have brought me to where I am today. I worked many years on weekends, 17 years in fact. I started in the catering department and was soon trained in environmental duties, which allowed me to broaden my skill set. Over the years I have been called to cook breakfasts and have always been willing to lend a hand when required.

I have enjoyed my role as OHS representative and loved being a part of the Mission support committee for our department and have taken pride in doing HACCP. It gived me great satisfaction seeing a clean kitchen.

Thanks to Liz and Katie for their time and willingness to share their expertise with us all.

In March 1988, Pinelodge had a fire in the laundry which made page 7 in the Dandenong Journal.

If you missed out, you can find a recording of the event by visiting the St John of God Berwick Hospital Facebook page.

In 1989, I baked 5 christmas cakes for our christmas function. Everyone loved them and I felt proud being asked to make them. (continued on page 2)
