PILOT ATHLETICS

Longtime Cross Country, Track & Field Coach Tony Fong Named NCS Honor Coach “I also try and balance sports with their education to help develop values and life skills that contribute to their success in the future, including in and out of college.” Coach Fong has coached at SJND for over 20 years, leading SJND Cross Country to become one of the top programs in the state. Under his leadership, the Pilots have earned five state titles since 2012. Additionally, many of Coach Fong’s athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level. Congratulations to coach Tony Fong who was awarded the NCS Honor Coach distinction at the NCS Cross Country Meet of Champions on November 23, 2019. The Honor Coach award is the highest honor a coach can receive in our section and “represents the best of high school education and athletics,” per NCS.

“Cross country is a very demanding sport and I develop a training program that prepares each runner to take on the challenges of racing,” Coach Fong said about his coaching philosophy. “I also try and balance sports with their education to help develop values and life skills that contribute to their success in the future, including in and out of college.”
