From the Office Staff Appreciation Week Thank you! The 2012 Staff Appreciation Week was fabulous. On behalf of teachers and staff we want to thank you each person who contributed to the daily events. It was a great treat for all. A Special Thank you to Emily Rios and Monina Wright who coordinated the details.
Christian Home and School Magazine Attached to today’s Tiger Tracks is the latest edition of Christian Home and School Magazine. Take some time to browse through the articles about helpful perspectives on Christian parenting, book reviews, and technology in education. Be sure to check out “Celebrating Christian Education: Accounts from Christian School Teachers.” The article is written by former SJCS English teacher, Amy McCutcheon and features insights from current SJCS faculty members, Ms. Veurink and Mrs. Wynbeek.
Code Red Barricade Drill
Lost and Found
The day that we return from Easter Break— Monday, April 16—we will conduct a practice drill for a Code Red situation. A Code Red indicates an armed intruder on campus, and one of the steps to take during such an incident would be building barricades in each classroom to block the doors and keep students safe. It is this barricade building that we will practice on the 16th. We will not be simulating a lockdown or evacuation during this drill. If your children are sensitive to these types of events, please discuss the drill with them ahead of time.
Are you missing a sweatshirt or jeans? A lunchbox? Take a moment to look through the stacks of ‘found’ items on the table outside the auditorium. It would be most helpful to label your children’s article of clothing, lunch boxes and water bottles with at least their initials or just the last name so things can be returned to the rightful owner. All items unclaimed will be donated to a worthy organization.

CPTA News CPTA March Meeting Summary The SJCS CPTA met on March 27. Highlights of the meeting included Upcoming Events and new event ideas and CPTA Leadership. Upcoming Events: • Monthly Coffee Cart | Cart Hosts needed for April, 20, May 18 and June 1. • 2012 Annual Spring Auction | Active CPTA members are encouraged to explain the event and promote the event so that additional parents will attend. Volunteers for the evening are needed - 30 minute time slots are available. • SJCS Association Meeting | Members discussed the importance of this group and the CPTA leadership inspired parents to get involved at this level by attending the May 7 meeting. New Ideas: • Parents brought up the idea of hosting a Dine Out evening on the same night as the Concert on the Green, May 18. Research is being done to confirm multiple locations. • Betsy Phillips asked if the members would put out “feelers” to see if parents would prefer a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner rather than the current Volunteer Appreciation Brunch. CPTA Leadership: • CPTA is currently taking nominations for the CPTA President role as well as one other supporting role. Descriptions and job responsibilities will be published via email after the Easter Break.

Grand “Friends” Day Save the date (May 11th) for the SJCS Grand “Friends” Day Celebration. Each student is encouraged to invite an adult friend, grandparent, family member to campus to participate in the days events. More details will follow after Easter break.
