Dear Southeastern Region Teens,
Welcome to the 67th Annual Regional Teen Leadership Conference, hosted by the Greater Fort Lauderdale chapter and your regional teen officers, “The GroundBreakers.”
Asweenterthisyear’steen conference, Ican’thelp reflecting onthework we have all done and being reminded of the power of black youth. Our generation has challenged the status quo and pushed the boundaries of what society believes youth can achieve. That being said, let this conference be a time ofcelebration and fellowship with the Jacks and Jills of the SER at the stunning Diplomat Hotel.
This year’s theme is, “Black Excellence: Aspire to Build an Empire.” In a time where police brutality, violence, and injustices against African Americans are rampant, what a perfect opportunity to remind our youth, the most vulnerable of us all, that even when society attempts to make you inferior, you are excellent. Your melanin is a gift and is powerful, and you mustrememberthatyoucanusethispowerfulgifttobuildempiresin whatever realm you please.
We, “The GroundBreakers,” and the host chapter have genuinely poured our hearts and souls into this conference. We brought the core desires of the SER teens to the forefront of our agenda and hope you fully engage with this truly dynamic experience!
In closing, it has truly been an honor to serve as your Regional Teen President through the 2022-2023 programming year. I am extremely grateful to have worked and learned under our marvelous Regional Director Darlene Whittington and the entire regional leadership team. Thankyou to“The GroundBreakers”for working extremelyhardtoensure the success of this programming year. Lastly, thank you RTA Keisha Lowther, my Chapter President Kelly Johnson, and my Lead Teen Sponsor Ursula Jones for your selfless leadership and continued support.
Sincerely, Jasmine Stewart
