A Message from the Director Greetings! Summer is approaching and we invite you to take a look at our offerings for summer 2019! Starting over the Memorial Day weekend, we are offering four family friendly one-day trips. Summer provides great weather for travel and new experiences, so I hope you will enjoy an opportunity to join us for these outings. Modestly priced, with an opportunity to take the August trip for free, the expeditions are designed to suit students, families and anyone who enjoys learning through doing! Each summer, the Office of Educational Outreach sponsors numerous summer camp activities hosted by academic experts. For the first time, we are offering an early drop-off and late pickup program to better accommodate working parents. The before and after camp experiences will be hosted by SIUE Campus Recreation and provide a convenient dropoff location and a safe, engaging environment for campers. Look for a listing of our summer camps on page 13 and a full list of SIUE-sponsored summer camps online: siue.edu/summer-camps.

We have many other opportunities for learners of all ages to engage with SIUE this summer, as well. Our non-credit course opportunities begin on page 3. Make sure to note the new beekeeping and golf courses, numerous new professional development experiences, our robust Educard program (see page 14), and information about our corporate partnerships. Recently, our staff participated in an engaging visioning exercise and settled on a new vision statement: Enriching. Empowering. Engaging. Education for All. We hope our summer offerings provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, and we are always open to your suggestions and feedback. Stop by and visit us at the Goshen Market or feel free to contact me with your ideas. Best wishes for a safe, enjoyable summer! Mary Ettling Interim Director 618-650-3215 mawalke@siue.edu
