The Blues came into this season on the back of a middling campaign which saw the Suffolk-based outfit finish in 10 in the Southern League Premier Division Central table, having picked up 60 points from their 42 games. Manager Chris Wigger, who joined Leiston in 2020, will have been hoping to make some early progress up the table in what is admittedly a very competitive league this season. His side currently sit in 9 position, one place above Ives, having picked up 25 points from their opening 18 fixtures. One of those points came in the reverse of tonightâs fixture, with Leiston having to settle for a 2-2 draw thanks to a late strike from Amir Hadi. th th
Wigger will be hoping his side can find some form sooner rather than later, with Blues coming into tonightâs clash having lost three of their last five league outings.
Blues faithful saw their side get through to the Third Qualifying Round of the Fa Cup having beaten Cheshunt and Hackney Wick, before they were knocked out of the competition by fellow league rivals Banbury United. Live Ives, their run in the Fa Trophy concluded at the First Round Proper stage, losing out to A.F.C. Sudbury.
In his second spell for the club. Scored 20 goals in 40 games for the Blues in his first spell during the 2022/23 season including helping Leiston reach the last 32 of the FA Trophy and the end of season play offs. Ben has also played for Needham Market, Peterborough Sports and Felixstowe & Walton United.
The striker has already managed to bag himself four league goals so far this season as will be setting his sights on adding to that tally when he and his teammates make the trip to Cambridgeshire on Monday evening.
He has also scored some important goals in Leistonâs cup runs, with the 26-year-old scoring in both the Fa Cup and Fa Trophy this season.

Since our last edition of the match programme, the reserves have been in action, with our lads going on the road to Wellingborough Town Development for some league action following last weeksâ postponement.
They went into this fixture having picked up some good form in November, winning three out of three this month. They were able to make it four out of four as goals from Reuben Huggins and Ollie Gaillard were enough to hold onto three points against a resilient Wellingborough side.
The Reserves are next in action next weekend as attention returns to the County Cup Quarter Finals, where they will be playing Eye Rovers.

Leiston Town Football Club were first established in 1880 and at the time were undoubtedly closely associated with the striving Richard Garrett Engineering Works based in the town.
The club joined the North Suffolk League in the early 1890âs and games were played on the old Recreation Ground adjacent to Gas Hill (now known as Park Hill) and players would change either at the White Horse Hotel or at the Works Hall.
At the turn of the century the club competed in the FA Amateur Cup and after the First World War made their FA Cup debut.
The club has competed in nine League competitions in their history namely North Suffolk, Suffolk & Ipswich (Ipswich & District), South EastAnglian, East Anglian, Essex & Suffolk Border, Norfolk and Suffolk, Eastern Counties, Isthmian and Southern.
After the First World War Richard Garrettâs bought the land off Victory Road, providing a sports area and clubhouse for the local community naming it the Leiston Works Athletic Association in 1921 and this has been the home for the Football Club for over 100 years although the ground name was changed in the 1980âs to LTAA (Leiston Town Athletics Association) following the closure of the Garrettâs Works.
The club has been playing at Step 3 for thirteen seasons, making the end of season play offâs twice and for the new season will have Chris Wigger at the helm as First Team Manager. The Reserves currently play at Step 6 and have done so since 2014.

The Youth side (Under 18) are part of the Eastern Counties set up while the striving boys and girls Youth sections compete in the Eastern Junior Alliance and South Suffolk Youth Leagues.
Leiston Town were âfull membersâ of the Football Association from the early 1950âs until 1982 during which time the club received the âIlluminated Addressâ from the Football Association to celebrate the clubâs centenary.
In the mid 1980âs the club dropped the Town part to become just Leiston FC but the club regained its Full Membership with the FA in 2020 after a few years as Associate Members.
Leiston Youth side were the first club in Suffolk to enter the FA Youth Challenge Cup reaching the First Round and a trip to Highbury to face Arsenal in 1954.
Later this century the club first entered the FA Vase in 1987 before first entering the FA Trophy in 2011.
Leiston have appeared in 34 Suffolk FA County cups (Senior) and have won the Premier Cup (2), Senior Cup (1), Junior Cup (4) and Charity Cup (4). In the last 20 odd years, as well as League titles, they have also won the Jewson League Division One KO Trophy and the East Anglian Cup.
