CREATIVE HEALTH CONTINGENCY PLAN =)
THE ideal approach :

THE ideal approach :
Start things ahead of time, and work in small doses ( minimum 20min /// maximum 2h ) on a variety of projects as frequently as possible.
This is an effective method for happiness, success of output, and creative momentum.
Taking a break for: feels good and normal,
instead of guilt-ridden, because I trust I will return to the working process at the next opportunity.
1. Do some research. Find out what other works are out there. Take note of what inspires you.
2. Close the internet. Turn off your phone. Put social media away.
3. Sit. Walk. Think.
4. Draw.
5. Talk to your fellow creatives
6. Share your ideas & get feedback
THE BEST WAY TO GET OUT OF A CREATIVE RUT IS USUALLY EITHER TO HANG OUT WITH MYSELF OR GO TO SLEEP. IF I AM IN A CREATIVE RUT IT IS LIKELY THAT I AM EITHER SO TIRED I CANNOT FUNCTION, OR I AM SO DISCONNECTED FROM MYSELF I FORGET WHAT I LIKE. OR BOTH.
Usually if I get into creative rut, it’s because I’m feeling self conscious, being self-critical, pretending to be an artist other than myself, or trying to please a particular audience.
the less ideal approach:
Acknowledge your limitations (in time, quality, skill, preparation) and your frustration about them. Then let them go.
Map out the exact # of hours or days until the deadline and map out major steps required to complete the project
Commit to working on steps within the timeframe you mapped out for yourself. When time runs out, move on to the next step.
