REVITALISATION CONNAUGHT PLACE, NEW DELHI Connaught Place is the prime CBD ( Central Business District ) and important trade and socio cultural center of Delhi located in the heart of the city. C.P. is the center of ring and radial network pattern of the city and eight radial roads emanates from the Outer Connaught Circus namely Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Punchkuian road, Chelmsford road, Minto Road, Bara Khamba Road, K.G.Marg, Janpath and Sansad Marg. Due to it’s strategic location and intense commercial activities in the region heavy volume of traffic is attracted towards Connaught Place. Since the residential areas are less in C. Place , most of the population is floating population.

1. Movement

Pedestrians on priority Reduction in pedestrian vehicular conflicts Central park to be integrated with shopping arcade Simple circulation system & convenient drop off points Improvement in road geometrics and road signage Improvement in level of service on road network in C.P.

2. Visual Experience

• Remove engineering equipments from terraces ,shops facades • Organize graphics & signage on buildings • Integrate roof top telecom towers with street furniture • Introduce landscape elements on Outer Circle & Radials Roads • Restoration of architectural vocabulary • Relocate informal shopping from movement corridors and provide organized space
