PROJECT BACKGROUND Ventive work with a major UK Housing Association who has provided high quality social housing for rent and sale for the past 40 years. They strive to provide their residents with excellent homes to live in from their extensive portfolio of over 20,500 homes across the UK, which over 34,000 residents call home. The Housing Association approached Ventive to help solve an ongoing problem with one of their rented properties in Camberley. A mother and young baby lived in the semi-detached house, which had been subject to concerns over condensation and recurrent mould growth within two rooms of the property. Despite routine maintenance and remedial works, the issues seemed to reoccur, which was having a negative and distressing impact on the residents, including early asthma symptoms and skin irritations for both mother and child.

I am delighted with the difference in air quality within the property. Not only has the mould problem completely disappeared, I have noticed fewer asthma symptoms as well. It’s a really simple, yet clever system that caused us minimal disruption but provided maximum results for me and my family.

PROJECT CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS Ventive arranged to trial their unique Passive Ventilation System with Heat Recovery in the property to demonstrate their non-intrusive ventilation solution which would help solve the damp and condensation problems. The Ventive products are designed to breathe fresh air into a house through the existing chimney stack. Their two products, Ventive S and Ventive S+, were installed in two rooms, where they replaced the chimney pot with a cowl and cassette that features an innovative, patented and incredibly efficient heat exchanger. The Ventive products used a combination of air buoyancy and wind (active from very low wind speeds) that created a flow of air within the interior of the house; ensuring greater than minimum standards of air quality were achieved and maintained. The equipment was easily ported into the property, with no plumbing or electrical work required. Since the property had the Ventive S and Ventive S+ installed, the mould and condensation problems have not returned and the health and wellbeing of the residents has improved significantly.
