A behavioural approach
Enhancing Communications and Briefings Results - Azea are renowned within industry for rapidly reducing
accidents by delivering innovative behavioural training solutions. This also applies to improving employee’s ability to deliver accurate and concise briefings.
Engaged - Azea was commissioned by one of its large rail clients to try
and improve their existing safety record by enhancing employees briefing skills. The client wanted to improve their employee’s ability to plan and then deliver task critical information. They also desired an output of the audience receiving the information in the correct way, with no misinterpretations.
What they know - In relation to behaviour, we design our briefing
training sessions so that the employees know that although they are being trained as ‘briefers’ it makes their job a lot easier to make sure that they question the audience correctly as well (it’s a 2 way process). All of our training sessions are designed around the fact that it benefits the employees and the companies to be proactive and plan the brief correctly (allocate the needed time to prepare for the brief) to deliver it with focus and then to ask questions to gain acknowledgment of understanding.
Thought 1 - Are your ‘briefers’ delivering task critical information in the most effective ways?
Thought 2 - Have they received quality accredited training so they can confidently deliver briefs in a real time situation?
Free advice - A successful communication programme (not just training) should take into account the following factors. • Have you REALLY looked at how you can train employees where possible, ‘on site’, as this is where they will be delivering the briefs? • Have you REALLY assessed if your employees are delivering briefs correctly? • Have you REALLY delivered job specific training and dealt with how people think and act? All our training is about engaging them in a way that by the end of the course, they can confidently carry out treatment in a pressurised situation. If we can engage with these rail sector employees, we can engage with yours as well!
