Born: November 15, 1904

Died: February 27, 1961
Servant of God Matilde Salem was born in Syria in 1904. She married Georges Salem and were married for 22 years but were unable to have children. After her husband's death, she moved to Turin, Italy and built a house near Don Bosco's institute. After supporting her husband for years and travelling with him, she fully embraced her new vocation. Matilde devoted herself to charity work. She joined a catechetical society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, helped with summer camps for poor and abandoned children, and many more. She helped open the technical school and it quickly became popular with refugees.

Matilde found that God was calling her to help her neighbor with great charity. Charity is the perfection of love and she showed God's love to those around her.
Servant of God Matilde Salem devoted herself to helping and showing God's love to others after her husband's death. She was involved in many different charities but it all starts with helping and showing God's love to one person to make a difference.

St. John Bosco was born in 1815 in Italy. When he was around 9 years old he started entertaining the children in town by putting on a show of circus tricks. At the end of the show he would share the homily that he heard at Mass that
When he became a priest, he continued to focus his ministry on children and youth. St. John Bosco said "every one is called to be a saint, and do you know, it is easy to be a saint. Just do this: diligently do the ordinary things of the day in an extra ordinary way."

St. Apollonia was a deaconess that lived during the 3rd century. She suffered persecution and willingly chose to die rather than deny Jesus. She is the patron saint of dentistry.
Christians are still persecuted today, especially if their views go against what the secular society is saying. Christians being killed for their beliefs is rare, but it still happens. Pray this week for all Christians who are persecuted. Pray as well that you will always remain strong in your faith.
If you have children, consider trading in the tooth fairy for St. Apollonia. St. Apollonia can give the tooth fairy an early retirement and start bringing the money and a holy card each time your child loses a
