-The peak hours on NYE are slightly shorter then a regular day, some people will take a day off for celebration. -People who don’t work on the day will gather around the harbour early to fight for a good spot for fireworks. -After work and fireworks, some will stay back for party till the next day. -Huge crowds going home after the fireworks. Train service will go on until 04:27 the next day.

08:30 Going out of Wynyard Station On an average day, the morning peak (07:3009:30) and the afternoon peak (17:30-19:30) accounts for most of the train line activities. The packed cabins and platforms presents a different sense of public space. People try to be at ease in this spontaneous and intimate distances, escape into various anti-social behaviour, such as napping, texting and listening to music.

Major events on the day include: 09:30 Morning Parade on George Street 12:30 Commemoration at Hyde park 13:00 Indigenous Anzac March at Redfern 17:00 Sunset Service at Martin Place.

URBAN DISCONNECTION:

URBAN CONNECTOR:

The old station track cuts off the connection of the city centre, sacrificing pedestrian flow between the two sides. The main road in front of the station lies on a wiped-out plaza, rendering the station an island.

The new proposal creates a public space in place of the original track to re-integrate the urban fabric. It also facilitates connection across the road, bringing the station and the Kings Street pedestrian zone together. The new design serves as the meeting point between the old city and the new development.

The two wings of the original station and the tracks are demolished for mixed use development, leading to controversies.


The new Stuttgart Central Station is a forward looking station; it integrates the fabric of existing city, protects the country side, requires no land use and promotes future development

Serving the Virtual Communities The current Redfern Station serves mainly for the students of the Sydney University, which had 47,775 students in 2009 and the Australian Technology Park with Channel 7 office housing up to 2000 employees. Causing a huge demand of transport during the peak hours. there is also an influx of new residents and workers set to result from the Redfern- Waterloo urban renewal project.

The Station that Connects and Entertain, before and after the train operates

The project consists of two bridge buildings linked by an open pedestrian bridge; each bridge contains its own program. The first bridge contains the train station and an accessible roof, with gallery space and a nightclub, access via a ramp that is open 24 hours before and after the train operates. The choice of program is a protest against the current timetable system of train operation, and the mixing of activities that have previously been perceived as incompatible. The second bridge is the University Learning hub, containing small collections of books and digital media, reading room, classrooms and lecture theatre, allowing both individual and collective uses.

There are many stairs/ benches space along the journey through the bridge, these spaces, almost like a little stadia, hang out space, are places where you can say, ‘ Let’s meet there!’ within the scale of a city.
