WORLDCITIESNETWORK Portraits by SIMONFREDERICK To commemorate the launch of World Cities Network in London, Portraitist & Imagemaker SIMONfREDERICK was asked to make portraits of the leaders and representatives taking part in the first of these roundtable workshops organised by World Cities Network. “It was a real pleasure and honor for me to be asked by WCN’s CEO Brian Kilkelly, to take part in the launch of his new initiative. I have, for some time been an advocate for a change in thinking, for many involved in the Real Estate sector when it comes to the seemingly low level of importance given to well crafted photographic imagery. It is my belief that Image can used by the sector in powerful and meaningful ways to shift and change perception, to create goodwill, inspire, influence to communicate a story un- confined by words. Image is the main means to communicate in the sector. It is through image that your ideas are communicated, bought and sold. Many of you have your own personal style that has also become your personal image, your brand, and yet many of you put no real thought into the ‘Semiotics’ of your image. The image that you let represent you or your work as your public face. Consider the word Representation we could break it down to read Re-Presentation and then you will begin to get an idea of what my work is about and how I use the concept of Re-Presentation to re-invent and repurpose . Understanding imagery is my expertise, creating advantage, awareness and media is the objective of my work. Image is the key to everything that I do. My expertise is in creating concepts that connect people to brands, by creating imagery that connect brands with people. I do this by working with my clients in collaboration to carefully construct pictures through selectivity of subject, context, focus, lighting, angle, process and presentation. I congratulate Brian, for launching World Cities Network and for his introduction of my work to your industry. I hope in time to work with many of you to help re-define the ways you wish to communicate through image”.
