01 THE FOREST CENTRE

Street elevation concept sketch

Designed to be productive for as long a season as possible.

Area plan mapping out LCZ zones across the 3 main sites for calculations as part of climate analysis.
A group regeneration project of Ramsgate’s historical seafront, including a proposed new transport network.

TRANSPORT STRATEGY
We produced site models mapping out new transport links to improve connectivity between the station, residential areas and the sea.

Ramsgate, England Student Group Project | University of Kent | 2021 - 2022

REGENERATION
An urban regeneration scheme proposing a new open access youth centre skate building, bike repair workshop cafe, and educational coastal climate pavilion.
These proposed elements aim to bring back footfall to the once-lively seafront, returning Ramsgate to its roots through providing opportunities for outdoor physical and social activity that are financially accessible to all, improving the standard of living in the area.
SEA DEFENSE
The introduction of a new salt marsh to the length of the Ramsgate coastline, repurposing the existing beach, is a proposed strategy to proof against anticipated coastal erosion in the near future due to climate change and rising sea levels.
Ramsgate is at high risk of flooding and eventually complete submersion, and research shows that the introduction of artificial salt marshes can slow down erosion, whilst also replenishing the biodiversity of the area over time.
The educational pavilion is intended help the residents of Ramsgate understand the severity of the climate crisis and its consequences, and therefore the need for such drastic measures.

03 GREYFRIARS TEA GARDENS

A productive landscape and associated teamaking workshop, including an existing medieval chapel.
The precedent for the car park landscape strategy is Beth Chatto’s gravel garden, designed to require no maintenance, and with planting selected to tolerate poor soil conditions.

04 CASTLE STREET
Canterbury, England Student Individual Project | University of Kent | 2022
Designed during the pandemic, the proposal incorporated multigenerational houses, outdoor activities and home working options to adapt to the lockdowns and combat loneliness.

04 CASTLE STREET

Undertaking this piece of work allowed me to investigate an area of design relating to social behaviour, ethics and politics that I was not able to do fully through the architecture undergraduate course modules.
Nominated for the RIBA Dissertation medal 2022.

Case Studies in London, England

“The answer to the question of whether or not designers have too much power, is therefore not clear-cut. This is why it is vital that these discussions continue. Post-war designers arguably held too much power, which led to failure. But on the other hand, the designers of today hold almost no power, instead it has passed into the hands of private developers.
This leads us to a critical and somewhat dystopian observation - the client is no longer the public. Public space is no longer public, and is not designed in the best interests of the public.
Instead, the design of public space is a subtle but powerful tool for social and political engineering, be it positive or negative.”

06 PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Architect That | 2024
The site visuals shown were produced independently from scratch using Sketchup to model the site, and Enscape to render. They were used by our client Be.EV as part of their marketing for this new electric vehicle charging site.
The plans shown are part of the landscaping concept generation processs that I worked on, incorporating feedback and input from the creative director.
The company works primarily in AutoCAD, Sketchup and Enscape, as well as using Adobe Creative Suite to produce final documents for planning applications and client presentations. I gained strong professional skills in these programs as a result of my time with the company.
My particular interest in the landscapespecific elements of my work during this period have among other factors led me to pursue landscape architecture.
Selected work shown was carried out on behalf of the company and its clients while in professional practice as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant.

Ceramics, Painting and Screenprint Personal Projects | 2023 - 2024

PRECEDENTS
Combining informal, wildflower planting with vegetable gardening.
Many different colours mixed together, no harsh borders, low maintenance.

08 PERSONAL PROJECTS

I plan to keep the wild feel of the existing garden as it was, while still being able to maintain a productive vegetable garden and introducing a meadow patch to encourage biodiversity.
